Andrea Lynn-Brouwers
Andrea Lynn-Brouwers is the Head of Design at Sonoma Shade Sails, where she brings over 21 years of expertise in the sail and shade structure industry. Specializing in both permanent installations and portable solutions, Andrea has dedicated her career to innovative design, earning multiple patents for the Portable Wind Resistant Shade Structure. Under her leadership, the company has consistently delivered award-winning projects, including the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2022 for The Ruse in Healdsburg, CA, and the prestigious American Textile Association (ATA) Award of Excellence in 2024 for the Gary Farrell Winery project. Andrea’s work has been featured on the cover of the ATA Review Magazine, highlighting her contributions to the field and the launch of her latest innovation, TERRASHADE®.
Andrea’s professional journey began after college as a sole proprietor in the wholesale screen printing industry, where she honed her design and project management skills. In 2004, she pivoted to the design, engineering, and installation of permanent shade structures, combining technical expertise with aesthetic vision. During the pandemic, Andrea and her team leveraged decades of experience to develop TERRASHADE®, a revolutionary shade system that blends elegance, engineering, and professional-grade durability. Her commitment to excellence has positioned her as a thought leader and innovator in the shade structure industry.
Beyond her professional achievements, Andrea is deeply committed to community engagement and personal growth. She holds an Associate’s degree in American Sign Language from Berkeley City College and studied Environmental Studies & Planning at San Rosa Junior College. Outside of work, she enjoys wreath making, hiking, camping, and spending time by lakes, and she actively volunteers with the National Institute for the Blind and local teen centers. Andrea’s combination of creativity, leadership, and community involvement continues to inspire both her colleagues and the broader design community.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my parents. My father was an inventor, and my mother was a pioneering leader among women in her time. Their example of creativity, determination, and leadership has inspired me throughout my life and career
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to seek out a mentor who can provide guidance and insight. Additionally, if you are eligible for support from SCORE, I highly recommend taking advantage of the resources and expertise they offer.
