Her Story
About Anny
I've been in the music industry for about 6 years total, though I took a break when I moved from Brazil to the U.S. during the pandemic to work as an au pair. I'm back now and have been actively working in the industry for the past 2 years. My main expertise is in managing artists - I focus on understanding where they fit, what their brand should look like, and developing comprehensive plans to navigate what's best for their career. One of my most notable achievements recently was finding a really talented artist on TikTok who's been doing really well. We're coming up with a whole strategy for her to transition from the influencer side more to the music side. I spend so much time on social media trying to find something good, even though I don't particularly enjoy it. I earned my MBA in marketing last year through a Brazilian university, completing it online while already living in the U.S. But honestly, the majority of the things that are really rewarding and noticeable about what I'm doing came from putting myself out there and not being afraid to go after what I believed was good. I'm willing to wear multiple hats and I'm not afraid of putting myself out there. As an immigrant, I like to work with things that represent me - when an artist is very vocal about immigrant causes or women's equality, I especially enjoy working with those people.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Anny
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to just being brave and putting myself out there. With everything I've achieved, it was because at some point I thought about it, then I went after it. I made my own opportunities. The majority of the things that are really rewarding and noticeable about what I'm doing only happened because I put myself out there and really tried. I wasn't afraid of just going after what I believed was good. I'm willing to wear multiple hats and not be afraid of putting myself out there.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received was to be brave and try. And be smart. Sometimes you just need to realize the solution is not really in front of you, but you can always find a different path that will take you to the same place. So just be smart to look at all your options.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women to stick to what you believe. Stand up for yourself. And just believe in your dreams.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think the biggest challenge is climbing the ladder. It's not that hard to actually start - you can start at an entry-level position anytime, but climbing the ladder is tricky. But just do the work, and somebody will see you at some point.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I like to work with things that represent me. As an immigrant, when an artist is very vocal about immigrant causes or women's equality, all those things, I like working with those people. It's important to me that the work I do aligns with causes I care about.
