Her Story
About Ariana
Ariana Feldberg, RVS, CIMT, is a healthcare professional, Registered Vascular Specialist, and Certified Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) Technician whose career reflects a lifelong commitment to science, innovation, and improving lives. Based in Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts, Ariana is the founder of Carotid Care, LLC, where she specializes in preventive cardiovascular screening through non-invasive carotid artery ultrasound technology. Her unique professional journey spans three distinct careers scientific research, dental technology, and vascular health each contributing to the expertise and perspective she brings to her work today.
Ariana began her career after earning a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from Eckerd College, spending nearly a decade conducting scientific research in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. As funding challenges increasingly affected the research landscape, she transitioned into dental technology, pursuing advanced education and professional development to master the design and fabrication of removable dental prosthetics. For more than a decade, she successfully operated a full-service dental laboratory, continuously expanding her expertise through industry conferences, independent study, and hands-on experience. In 2019, recognizing the growing shift toward automation and digital manufacturing within the dental industry, Ariana sought a new opportunity that would allow her to combine technical skill with direct patient impact.
That opportunity emerged in preventive vascular health. After learning about CIMT scanning technology and its ability to identify early indicators of cardiovascular disease, Ariana pursued specialized training and became a Registered Vascular Specialist. She earned certification in CIMT imaging through CardioRisk and has since dedicated her career to helping individuals reduce their risk of heart attack and stroke through early detection. Through Carotid Care, LLC, she partners with employers, wellness programs, and community organizations to bring life-saving screenings directly into workplaces and underserved communities. Among her most meaningful initiatives was a partnership supporting residents of inner-city Hartford, Connecticut, where grant-funded screenings expanded access to preventive care for individuals who otherwise would not have received these services. Ariana is passionate about making advanced cardiovascular screening accessible to all, believing that early detection and preventive care should not be limited by socioeconomic barriers but available to every individual who can benefit from it.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Ariana
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to perseverance, determination, and an unwavering commitment to achieving my goals. I've never been someone who easily accepts "no" as a final answer; instead, I view challenges as opportunities and setbacks as simply "not yet" moments. Throughout my career transitions from scientific research to dental technology and ultimately preventive vascular healthcare I have remained focused on continuous learning, adapting to change, and pursuing work that creates meaningful impact. That persistence, combined with a strong sense of purpose, has enabled me to overcome obstacles, embrace new opportunities, and build a career dedicated to improving the lives and health of others.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I think it's sort of what my mentality has just been my whole life. If you can find something that you're passionate about, and you can help others in following that career path, it's super rewarding. It may be a struggle, and you may have to reinvent yourself a few times, hence the three careers. But it's been the most rewarding path for me to finally land somewhere where I know that I'm helping families and impacting people on a day-to-day basis by keeping them healthy. So, I guess for me, the best advice would be don't be afraid to change paths, and follow your pursuits of things that intrigue you, things that are interesting to you, and if it's helping the greater good, all the better.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Just keep trying. You're gonna hear no a lot, but again, just keep trying. And if there's something that you're really passionate about, don't let anybody dissuade you from achieving your goals.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The CIMT scan is not approved by, or covered by insurance yet. I am determined to have CIMTs be part of your annual wellness exam. Like, for example, you go to the doctor every year to have your physical, you get your mammogram as a woman, you get your colonoscopy when you're in your 50s, you get your teeth cleaned twice a year. And I am determined that, oh yeah, you also get your CIMT every year. So that's something that is really passionate of a goal for me, and I think that the opportunity is there. There are some roadblocks for sure - insurance industries are real slow to turn around, but I am diligently working to make that a reality.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I always want to see if I can help people. That is why and how I've driven my careers this direction. I want to help people stay as healthy as they can, as long as they can. When I first moved to the island, there was no dental lab here, and people were without their dentures for at least a week. I didn't think that was okay to have older folks, or sometimes even younger folks, be without their teeth for a week. It's hard to eat, it's hard to keep your health up, there's an emotional part to it as well. And so, for me, that's what started steering me towards the dental lab - I wanted to fill a void. And the same with the heart attack and stroke prevention. There was nobody else really in all of New England that's certified to do what I do, and I wanted to help fill that void. If I can help save one person's life by educating them and alerting them to some health concerns that are completely avoidable, then I'm happy. The more people I can help, the happier I am.
