What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the foundation I built as a writer at fifteen, when poetry became the anchor that helped me understand myself and my voice. My evolution from poet to romance fiction author never felt like a change in direction, but rather an expansion—an opening of creative space. With my latest project, which weaves together mythology, a cursed Draugr, and elements of time travel, I’m embracing deeper, more daring storytelling. I’m committed to crafting characters who feel real—flawed, evolving, and emotionally human—rather than settling for anything formulaic.
My academic journey at the University of Phoenix has added meaningful dimension to my work. I draw on my studies to blend myth, personal insight, and narrative craft, allowing education and creativity to inform one another in a way that strengthens my storytelling.
I was first published in 2015, and my 2019 release, Having Haunted Hearts, remains a milestone I’m deeply proud of. Seeing my work reach readers and knowing these stories now live beyond me continues to motivate and inspire my growth as an author.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is simple: don’t wait for permission to create. Believe in your voice—even on the days when doubt speaks louder than confidence. Your path will never look exactly like anyone else’s, and that uniqueness is your greatest strength. Keep going, even when others don’t understand or agree with your vision yet. If you want to write, write. Every word you put on the page is progress, and every step forward—no matter how small—moves you closer to the writer you’re becoming.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me—both in my writing and in my life—center on perseverance and unwavering self-belief. I’ve learned not to give up on myself, even when others don’t fully understand my vision. Fighting against the odds has shaped my resilience and strengthened my creative voice. No matter the genre I write in or how I introduce a scene or character, there is always a piece of me in the work. That’s why staying grounded and true to myself is essential; authenticity is the thread that carries through every story I create and every path I choose to walk.
