Forbidden Tango
A Dance Between Life and Death Where One Partner Refuses to Yield
Forbidden Tango
By Aundrea Methvin
Step for passionate step,
She glides and leads.
He holds her.
He allows her the control,
Knowing it is he who has a lasting effect.
She doesn’t see him—
Only feels his touch as he gently guides her through her life,
Watching the passion in each step,
The seduction within each movement.
She feels the passion he will give her,
As he has kept her in his ever-seeing sights for centuries.
Her fate is in his hands as he allows her to dance across the floor.
He could change her.
He could give her the wings that only he can see.
She is his angel, and yet also his temptress.
He is the master of her fate.
But how can he do what is needed
When the woman has already done the impossible?
She has danced with Death without fear or even tears.
She enjoyed her dance even with him out of sight.
If she only knew that as she danced in her kitchen,
Her form held right,
She had literally held Death’s grip
And matched him step for step.
He won’t take her.
She still has a lot of fight within her—
The fight that keeps him from taking her,
From giving her the wings she doesn’t see,
Nor the halo that will grace her beautiful head.
He just can’t force her to give up and be with him
In his world of the Dead.
So he endures the torturous tango,
For right now, she is his—
But forbidden.
