Her Story

About Brenda

She is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Our Destiny Our Future Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2022 in loving memory of her daughter, Destiny McClain. What began as a deeply personal mission has grown into an organization dedicated to empowering youth through educational scholarships, supporting underserved communities, assisting children in foster care, and advocating for victims and survivors of violent crime.

Under her leadership, the foundation has awarded 13 scholarships totaling $13,000, distributed 300 backpacks through four annual back-to-school drives, and supported approximately 350 children through three Christmas drives. Through meaningful community partnerships, corporate collaborations, and charitable initiatives, she continues to expand the foundation's reach and impact. Her leadership and dedication have also contributed to the foundation receiving a $6,000 grant from the ALTA Good Deeds Foundation in 2026.

Beyond her nonprofit leadership, she is a credentialed victim advocate who earned her Victim Advocacy Certificate from the University of Arizona and holds a professional credential through the National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP). She serves as a volunteer advocate with Arizona's Voice for Crime Victims, supporting victims and survivors as they navigate the criminal justice system.

She also works closely with Arizonans for Effective Public Safety (AEPS) to raise awareness about missing persons and unresolved cases, advocate for affected families, and pursue legislative changes aimed at improving public safety and strengthening protections for victims and survivors.

Recognizing the importance of prevention and education, she speaks with juveniles on probation and students about the devastating impact of gun violence on individuals, families, and communities. Through personal experiences and meaningful conversations, she encourages young people to understand the consequences of their decisions and the lasting effects violence can have on others.

In addition to her nonprofit and advocacy work, she brings more than 30 years of professional experience in the title and escrow industry. She currently works at Empire Title Agency, a division of Stewart Title Company, where her extensive industry knowledge and operational experience reflect her longstanding commitment to professionalism and excellence.

Through her nonprofit leadership, advocacy, and community involvement, she continues to demonstrate how purpose-driven action can create meaningful and lasting change. She believes that life's most difficult experiences do not have to define a person's future, but can become a source of strength, compassion, and inspiration to make a difference in the lives of others.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Brenda

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my faith, resilience, determination, and unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. I believe that success is not solely measured by personal or professional achievements, but by the positive impact I can have on others.

My ability to persevere through life's challenges, remain focused on my purpose, and transform adversity into meaningful action has been instrumental in my journey. I also credit the support of my family, the relationships I have built, and the individuals and organizations who share my passion for serving others.

Above all, I believe that life's most difficult experiences do not have to define who we become. Instead, they can inspire growth, strengthen our purpose, and create opportunities to leave a lasting impact. For me, true success is knowing that my efforts are making a meaningful difference while building a legacy that will continue to impact lives for generations to come.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received came from my father. He always told me that as long as I put 115% into everything I do, I would never be disappointed. Those words have stayed with me throughout my life and have shaped the way I approach both my professional and personal endeavors. He taught me the importance of giving my absolute best, taking pride in my work, and never settling for less than what I know I am capable of achieving. I have carried that advice into every aspect of my life, from my professional career to my nonprofit leadership and advocacy. I believe that success isn't always about the outcome, but about knowing that I gave everything I had. As long as I can say that, I have no regrets.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering any industry is to believe in themselves, recognize their worth, and never allow anyone to place limitations on what they can accomplish. Be willing to learn, ask questions, take initiative, and never be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Every experience, whether it is a success or a setback, provides an opportunity to grow.

I would also encourage young women to lead with integrity, remain true to their values, and never compromise who they are to fit someone else's expectations. Find mentors who inspire and challenge you, surround yourself with people who support your growth, and remember the importance of lifting other women up along the way.

Most importantly, pursue what you are passionate about and give 115% to everything you do. Success may not always follow the path you originally envisioned, but with determination, resilience, and faith in yourself, you can create opportunities you never imagined possible.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I believe one of the biggest challenges in nonprofit leadership and victim advocacy is ensuring that individuals and families have access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need. Many nonprofit organizations are doing incredible work with limited funding and resources, while victims and survivors often face significant challenges navigating the criminal justice system and finding the support they deserve.

Another challenge is bringing greater awareness to unresolved cases, strengthening victims' rights, and addressing the lasting impact of violence on families and communities. There is still much work to be done when it comes to accountability, public safety, and ensuring that the voices of victims and survivors are heard.

At the same time, I see tremendous opportunities for meaningful change through collaboration, education, community partnerships, and legislative advocacy. I believe we have an opportunity to be more proactive in reaching young people, educating them about the consequences of violence, and providing positive alternatives that can influence their futures.

For me, the greatest opportunity is being able to help create lasting change rather than simply responding to the challenges that already exist. I believe that when organizations, advocates, community leaders, and policymakers work together, we can make a difference that extends far beyond our individual efforts.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are faith, family, integrity, compassion, honesty, and perseverance. These values are the foundation of who I am and guide the decisions I make in both my professional and personal life.

My faith has carried me through some of the most difficult experiences of my life, while my family continues to be my greatest source of love, strength, and motivation. I believe in treating everyone with kindness, dignity, and respect, recognizing that we never truly know what someone else may be going through.

Integrity and accountability are especially important to me. I believe in doing what is right, even when no one is watching, standing up for what I believe in, and following through on my commitments. Whether in my professional career, nonprofit leadership, or advocacy work, I strive to lead by example and remain true to my values.

Above all, I believe in living with purpose. Losing my daughter, Destiny, forever changed my life, but it also gave me a deeper understanding of the importance of compassion, resilience, and using my voice to make a difference. Through Our Destiny Our Future Foundation and my advocacy work, I have made it my mission to turn unimaginable heartbreak into hope for others.

I cannot change what happened to my daughter, but I can choose how I honor her life. Every child we help, every family we support, every victim whose voice we amplify, and every opportunity we create is a reflection of the love I will always carry for Destiny. My greatest accomplishment will never be measured by a title, recognition, or professional achievement. It will be measured by the lives I have touched, the difference I have made, and the legacy I leave behind in my daughter’s name.
