Candice A. McVey, MA, is an accomplished ministry leader, educator, and advocate for children’s spiritual formation. She serves as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Theology at Azusa Pacific University as well as the Assistant Director of the Nurturing Children through Worship and Prayer Initiative for Azusa's Center for Vocational Ministry. In these roles, she works to strengthen the faith of children, support ministry leaders, and educate the next generation of church leaders.

Before entering ministry full-time, Candice gained extensive experience in education and business. She worked as a teacher, shaping young minds in classroom settings, and later applied her leadership and communication skills as a Senior Marketing and Communications Manager at Colliers International. She also held the position of Real Estate Services Coordinator at Voit Real Estate Services, where she honed her organizational and project management abilities. These experiences equipped her with a unique blend of educational, administrative, and professional expertise that informs her ministry work today.

Candice earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from California State University, Long Beach, and a Master of Arts in Theology and Religious Vocations from Point Loma Nazarene University. She is also a 2026 candidate for ordination in the Church of the Nazarene.

Outside of her professional and ministry roles, Candice is a devoted wife and mother to three children, balancing her family life with her commitment to education, mentorship, and faith-based leadership.

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my hard work in the field and to God, who inspires me every day to provide the guidance and skillset needed for others to achieve extraordinary success. My faith keeps me grounded and focused, reminding me that every opportunity to help someone grow is a blessing.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is that I can achieve anything as long as I listen to God and put Him first. This truth has carried me through every challenge and milestone in my career, giving me the strength and wisdom to move forward with confidence and purpose.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To young women entering the industry, my advice is simple: You can, and you will! Believe in yourself and trust in the gifts God has given you. The path may not always be easy, but perseverance and faith will always lead you where you are meant to be.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest challenges and opportunities in my field has been helping others rebuild what was lost. I am especially proud of the work I did rebuilding a church after COVID, an experience that strengthened my resilience and deepened my commitment to serve. I now welcome life’s challenges as opportunities to grow and give back.

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My personal and professional values are deeply rooted in a God-centered focus. As a Reverend, I dedicate my life and work to His guidance. I also find great joy in serving with nonprofits such as Olive Crest and Pasadena Elizabeth House, where helping people is more than just a passion—it’s my calling.
