Ten minutes with Cassandra

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my genuine love for helping people and my commitment to making others feel valued and seen. My journey to becoming a manager wasn't something I initially envisioned for myself, but my hard work paid off because it came from an authentic place of caring about people's success and wellbeing. What drives me every day is knowing that I can make someone feel like what they're doing makes a difference, that I can make them smile and feel happy in their role. Having been a baseline PIC myself, I understand what it's like to be in that position, and I use that experience to ensure my team knows they are appreciated and that their work truly matters. I believe that to succeed in a role like mine, you have to have a heart for wanting to help people succeed, and you have to make them feel seen, because not all managers do that. My success comes from striving every day to be the kind of leader who recognizes and values every person's contribution.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never give up, because there are times where you are going to feel like this is too much or wonder if you can really handle it, but you can. You just have to push through and keep the faith. You will make it if you don't give up on your dreams. There will be overwhelming days and moments of doubt, but I promise you that if you persevere and stay committed to your goals, you will succeed. The healthcare field can be challenging, but it's also incredibly rewarding when you stay the course.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important values in my work and personal life are service, empathy, and ensuring that people feel seen, heard, and valued for their contributions.
