Her Story
About chloe
I'm one half of the co-team behind View Park Records, working alongside my business partner Chance. We run an independent artist label based in South Central Los Angeles, and our mission is to help independent artists control their careers and gain the leverage they need, whether they choose to stay independent or pursue getting signed. My journey into music business started at the Los Angeles Film School, where I studied Entertainment Business and discovered my passion for this industry. I was working for a film production company when I first heard about View Park Records through my boss, who would later become my business partner. I learned about what he was doing on the side, outside of our regular 9-to-5 work, and from there, we've been working together to build something meaningful. Beyond running the label, I'm deeply involved in career development, helping people find jobs in the entertainment field. I'm also currently pursuing my master's degree in public relations, set to graduate in May. One of the most rewarding parts of what I do is seeing the impact on artists' lives. I recently had one of our artists tell me, 'You're the reason I can still do music,' because we've created a way for him to work his 9-to-5 while still being an artist. We champion independent artists and carve out a lane for them so the burden isn't all on them. That kind of feedback, especially when I'm feeling tired or questioning things, reminds me exactly why I do this work.

Ten minutes with chloe
01What do you attribute your success to?
Definitely my faith, that's first and foremost. I couldn't do anything without a higher power pushing me and motivating me when I don't feel it. But then also just seeing the lives that I've changed. I just had one of our artists say, 'You're the reason I can still do music.' He's working a 9-to-5, and he still can be an artist, because we're championing and we create a lane for them to still do their music. Someone's still pushing it out, so it's not all on the artist. Those two things for sure. Even when I'm feeling down, like when I just finished my master's and I'm getting tired, asking myself 'Do I even want to do this anymore?' And then when he told me that, I was like, okay, this is why I do it.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My favorite person, Issa Rae, she said it to me first: work across. A lot of times, we try to get higher up, when really we just need to find our circle, find a few people that rock with us, have a shared vision, and try to work with them as much as possible to build something. We are so focused on our own bubble, but we need to start building our network. Instead of always trying to climb the ladder, find your circle and work with them.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say my best advice is start building your network. A lot of times, we are so focused on our own bubble, but we need to expand beyond that. My favorite person, Issa Rae, she said it to me first: work across. A lot of times, we try to get higher up, when really we just need to find our circle, find a few people that rock with us, have a shared vision, and try to work with them as much as possible to build something. It's not always about climbing straight up the ladder. Sometimes your path is more like a jungle gym, working across and building with the people around you who share your vision.
