Christine Watts, MBA, SHRM-CP, is a seasoned human resources professional, educator, and workforce development leader with more than a decade of experience driving strategic people operations across corporate, educational, and nonprofit environments. Currently serving as Senior Human Resources Generalist at MSB Consulting Engineers, Christine oversees comprehensive HR functions while preparing to step into future executive leadership through close mentorship with firm ownership. Known for her empathetic yet results-driven approach, she builds cultures that attract, develop, and retain talent while aligning people strategies with organizational values, equity, and performance.

In addition to her corporate leadership, Christine is a dedicated educator who has spent over 10 years as an adjunct professor teaching human resources, business, and management at Delgado Community College and the University of Holy Cross. She has played a key role in shaping future HR professionals, including helping to develop an HR concentration at the University of Holy Cross. Her professional journey includes 13 years in human resources, preceded by 12 years in accounting, giving her a strong analytical foundation that informs her expertise in HRIS, performance management, employee relations, and lean process improvement.

Christine is deeply engaged in advancing the HR profession statewide through her service on the Louisiana State SHRM Board, where she currently serves as Certification Director and Workforce Development Director. In this role, she champions certification, workforce readiness, and inclusion initiatives that strengthen Louisiana’s talent pipeline. Guided by a strong commitment to ethics, integrity, and lifelong learning, Christine emphasizes adaptability in an evolving workplace, including the thoughtful integration of emerging technologies such as AI. She is currently ABD in a Doctorate in Executive Leadership and remains passionate about mentoring, education, and building people-centered organizations that make a lasting impact.

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to perseverance and hard work. Although I did not always have access to the best resources or opportunities, I learned early on that success is shaped by how we respond to our circumstances and make the most of what we have.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to keep going and get the work done, even when conditions aren’t perfect. Progress matters more than perfection, and consistency is often what leads to real results.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering my industry to stay focused and put in the work. Keep your head down, work hard, remain committed to continual learning, and concentrate on doing your work well—success follows consistent effort.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in my field right now include the rapid rise of AI and the uncertainty and fear surrounding its impact. At the same time, these changes present significant opportunities—knowledge is power, and those who invest in learning, adapting, and understanding new technologies are best positioned to grow and succeed.

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important value in both my work and personal life is having strong ethics. I believe in doing the right thing, acting with integrity, and maintaining honesty and accountability in everything I do.
