Her Story

About Deidre

I believe that education has the power to transform lives, families, and entire communities. That belief was born from my own journey.

After stepping away from school for 24 years, I made the decision to return to college as a single mother with a dream that felt almost impossible. What began at community college eventually led me to earn a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Public Policy from the University of California, Riverside, and now a Doctor of Public Administration journey at California Baptist University.

Along the way, I discovered that success is rarely about talent alone. It is built through faith, perseverance, resilience, and the willingness to keep moving forward—especially when the path is uncertain.

Professionally, I serve in public administration, working at the intersection of law, healthcare, and human services while advocating for vulnerable populations. My passion extends beyond public service into education, leadership, systems improvement, and empowering others to recognize their own potential.

As the author of UNBREAKABLE, creator of The Bridge Scholastic Framework, and founder of several educational initiatives, my mission is to help students, professionals, families, and communities navigate challenges with confidence and purpose.

Everything I create is rooted in one simple belief:

Helping people see possibilities they may not know exist.

Whether I'm writing, speaking, mentoring, conducting research, or serving my community, I hope people leave believing one thing:

Look what is possible when faith, persistence, education, and hope work together over time.

To God be the Glory.

Ten minutes with Deidre

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to faith, persistence, and the belief that education has the power to transform lives. Every opportunity I've been given has been built one step at a time through hard work, resilience, lifelong learning, and the willingness to keep moving forward despite obstacles.

My journey has taught me that success is not about never facing adversity—it's about refusing to let adversity define your future. I hope my story encourages others to believe that no dream is too late, no setback is permanent, and no goal is beyond reach.

Above all, I give God the glory. My accomplishments are not mine alone; they are a testament to His grace, to the support of my family, mentors, and educators, and to the many people who believed in me along the way.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever embraced is to never stop learning and never underestimate where faith, persistence, and preparation can take you. Every season of my life—from returning to college after a 24-year hiatus to serving in public administration while pursuing my doctorate—has reinforced that opportunities often come disguised as hard work. Stay curious, remain teachable, serve others well, and trust that your preparation today is creating possibilities for tomorrow.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Believe in your ability before the world does. Don't let fear, self-doubt, or imposter syndrome convince you that you don't belong. Your voice, your perspective, and your lived experiences have value. Stay curious, continue learning, seek mentors, ask questions, and remember that leadership is about serving others with integrity and compassion. Most importantly, never stop investing in yourself—education and personal growth are two investments that no one can ever take away from you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges facing public administration today is ensuring that increasingly complex systems work together effectively while keeping people at the center of every decision. Many of the individuals and families we serve interact with multiple agencies, and meaningful collaboration is essential to achieving better outcomes.

At the same time, I see tremendous opportunity. By strengthening communication, embracing innovation, investing in education, and building collaborative partnerships across disciplines, we can create more responsive, efficient, and compassionate public systems. I believe the future of public service lies in leaders who are willing to think beyond organizational boundaries and work together to solve complex community challenges.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide both my work and personal life are faith, integrity, compassion, lifelong learning, and service to others. I believe that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and kindness, regardless of their circumstances. I strive to lead with empathy, remain committed to continuous growth, and use my education and experiences to create opportunities for others. Above all, my faith reminds me to serve with humility, persevere through challenges, and give God the glory for every blessing and accomplishment.
