Her Story
About Delisa
I've always been into tech since I was younger. I remember getting my first computer and I took it apart when I first got it. I'm a self-taught coder who taught myself 6 different coding languages. My background is in mechanical engineering - when I first got out of high school, I went to Tennessee State for mechanical engineering. Then I taught myself how to code once I started having my children and I realized they were special needs, so I went into entrepreneurship to take care of my girls. I handle day-to-day operations and build mobile apps that are customized all the way from the idea perspective from our clients, and I handle everything all the way to launching to the app from the Apple and Android Google Play stores. I also handle the initial marketing and build the landing pages to get the initial launch shared to the customer's audience. My business partner Christopher Johnson and I have been working together for 9 years, and we've gone through ups and downs together and worked through a lot of challenges when it comes to a smaller city together. We've really worked hard together to get where we are today.

Ten minutes with Delisa
01What do you attribute your success to?
I have to say my two girls. It's been a lot of long nights and they've had a lot of patience with me. They're autistic, and so they have their own little way that they be to their self sometimes. But they understand that mom's an entrepreneur. Sometimes kids have that spell where they just need mom, they're really needy, but my girls just stick because they're in their own world - they're like, okay, mom's working, I don't need her right now. I gotta give it to them because they're not really like that, they're not like that at all.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received was being told that technology is a man's field and to leave it to the men. And I haven't stopped ever since.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
My biggest challenge is that I live in a city where technology is almost 30 years behind. I'm 30 years ahead, and that's my biggest challenge.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My most important values are God and family. God and family are my most important values.
