Her Story

About Diana

I have a background in law and practiced in Kenya for almost 7 to 10 years in commercial law and compliance. When I moved to the United States, I initially studied cybersecurity, earning my Security+ and GRC certifications, and interned at Topgroup Technologies. But over the course of 2024, I opened my own company called Seasonalia after noticing a huge gap in the healthcare field where caregivers and healthcare professionals were not actually meeting the person who needs care on the other end. I started it as something I was just doing because I noticed the need here in Los Angeles, California, and it has grown to maybe $3.5 to $4 million in annual revenue. I currently manage 120 to 150 independent contractors based out of Los Angeles and San Diego, and I'm staffing more than 40 facilities in the Valley. My motto is compassionate care, professional staffing. I want to be on time and reliable, and I push myself beyond my limits to ensure that if anybody has a need, it can be met. I recently launched a registry and a product called Rapid Coverage for emergency situations where someone needs immediate help. Before starting my business, I volunteered at elderly care facilities and worked part-time as a nurse assistant, which gave me firsthand experience with the challenges seniors face. This is the best thing I've ever done in my life because I'm giving back and helping people who truly need it.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my genuine passion for helping people and my willingness to push myself beyond my limits. I wake up at 5 AM every day and work until late at night because I'm committed to ensuring that anyone who needs care gets it. I don't just see this as a business - it's about filling a real gap I noticed in the healthcare field where seniors and people needing care weren't getting the help they deserved. My background in law and compliance taught me structure, but what really drives me is the emotional connection I have to this work. I have elderly parents and grandparents I took care of, so I know what it feels like when someone's dignity is in question and they need help. No matter how exhausting it gets, I come home filled up because I know I'm working with people who appreciate everything I'm giving, and I love giving it to them. I'll pay double, call someone until 3 AM, or go myself to help someone who fell - whatever it takes to make sure the need is met. That commitment and that heart for service is what has allowed my business to grow from a small venture to $3.5-4 million in annual revenue.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge and opportunity in my field right now is the massive gap between people who need care and the caregivers who can provide it. There are seniors who don't have kids, who are left in their homes without knowing who to ask for help, and sometimes there's a gap with social workers who can't provide the support needed. I've had situations where elderly people fall and there's nobody to pick them up, or they get discharged from the emergency room at midnight with no one to take them home. At the same time, this represents a huge opportunity because the need is so great. I'm staffing more than 40 facilities in the Valley, and the work is so much that I barely have enough time to even think about marketing - I'm just now coming up with a website and starting my Instagram page. The business has grown beyond my capacity in some ways, which is why I'm looking for a mentor and want to do my master's in business administration. My business is asking more of me than my current capability, but I'm working on expanding my skills to meet that demand.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important values to me are compassion, reliability, and giving back. My motto is 'compassionate care, professional staffing' because I want to make sure that I'm on time and that people know I'm reliable. When you're helping people, you come home no matter how tired you are, and you're filled up - that's what matters to me. I want to make sure that seniors can maintain their dignity and stay at home if that's what they want, rather than being forced into facilities. I believe strongly in mental health support and therapy, and I'm passionate about making sure elderly people get the care they deserve. I also value being there for people in their most vulnerable moments - whether that's picking someone up who fell, taking someone home from the emergency room at midnight, or making sure someone's pets are fed when they're hospitalized. Ultimately, my goal has always been to help and give back to society. That's why I went into law originally, and even though I pivoted to cybersecurity and then entrepreneurship, that core value of service has remained constant. I love what I do because I'm working with people who appreciate everything I'm giving, and I love giving it to them.
