About Divya
My journey in staffing began close to 10 years ago when I completed my bachelor's in Computer Science back in India and was recruited by a staffing company. Though I knew nothing about staffing initially, I quickly discovered my passion for connecting people with opportunities and understanding their pain points. After working in software development to understand how technology projects come to life, I came to the U.S. and pursued my Master's in Business Administration from University of La Verne, choosing to major in both Organizational Behavior and Information Technology to blend my people-focused and technical experience. This led me to Apple One, where I took on responsibility for hiring in technology and found myself in a unique position - coaching recent graduates on resume writing, email etiquette, and interview preparation while also consulting with clients to redesign their interview structures to be more time and cost-effective. I later had the opportunity to work with Meta as a technical sourcer, engaging with elite educational institutes to bring talent for the metaverse. Now at Ledgent, I lead the accounting and finance division, helping clients across Inland Empire and Orange County in healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, construction and cities with their staffing needs, while working with candidates ranging from college graduates to CFO-level leadership. What I like most about my work is the people connection - I don't just fill roles, I build lasting relationships and trust so that when someone is in a crunch in their life and needs a job or need a reliable resource, they remember my name and reach out to me.

Ten minutes with Divya
01What do you attribute your success to?
I'm really grateful for all the employers I've worked with, all the clients who showed me trust and leaned on me whenever the need was there, and all the candidates who put their careers in my hand. It's so important to be grounded and to know where I'm coming from - a lot of people do not just get the privilege to learn all of these things, which I got. My background has taught me to stay grounded, and I believe that building trust and human relationships is what makes the difference. In this AI world, I believe that's what's missing in any organization - the human connection, the empathy, the ability to make employees feel valued rather than just being a number. I don't cut corners or just focus on showing numbers - I really feel pleasure when I connect with any client and they come back to me when the time is right and say, 'Hey, Divya, I need your help.'
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Like many graduates, I was open to exploring different opportunities after finishing my education. I was unsure of what the next chapter would hold, but through my own experiences—and by measuring what truly brought me happiness—I began to understand what I enjoyed doing the most.
In the early stages of my career, I worked in recruiting, software development, and tutoring during my free time. Over time, as I reflected on what I missed most when I wasn’t working, the answer became clear: connecting with people, coaching them, and being the person who could make that call and say, “Hey, great news—you got the job.”
Once I realized that, I never looked back. I committed to putting my best foot forward every day, knowing there are people like me who need a mentor or a strong career coach—someone who can help shape their professional journey.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Believe in yourself and stand by your words. If there’s anyone who must trust you first, it’s you. Before the world validates you, you have to validate yourself.
Take the time to learn, reflect, and educate yourself about what you truly want. Then start prioritizing what matters most on your plate.
Women play many roles in life, even though society doesn’t always acknowledge them equally. To an employer, you are an employee first. To a child, you are a mother first. To a family, you may be a partner, a caregiver, or a leader. Because of this, it’s essential to set priorities and ask for help when needed.
Lastly, communication is key. You cannot build or grow alone—you need support. And when you do, ask the right people to step in and stand beside you as true team players.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I believe the biggest challenge right now is that the trust and human connection is missing in today's work culture environment - we are just feeling that the employees are just a number. While AI is helpful to automate tasks and make things done easily, it certainly cannot replace the human connection and empathy. When someone is dealing with an emergency at home or in their personal life and doesn't know how to focus on work, we need somebody who can understand and say, 'Let's get this thing done, and then let me talk about your current scenario, how I can assist you,' so that you will not lose the employee - you are, in fact, gaining their trust for future needs. If we make small changes like recognizing and rewarding employees, having company meetings, small coffee talks, or happy hours once a month to exchange thoughts and ask 'What is your opinion? How we can change things around?', any workplace can be a place where people will happily come every day and try to push themselves a little more, innovate, and think about how they can contribute 1% extra each day. This kind of relationship is very important, and to be honest, this is kind of vanishing little by little when AI is so much generated.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important value to me is building trust and human relationships. I believe it's imperative to understand the mindset of the person you're working with. I prefer working with people who can always lean on me - they should not think twice before coming to me with what they need. I don't go with cutting corners or just fulfilling my goals and showing numbers that are up. What's most important for me is to build trust, to build a human relationship, because in this AI world, I believe that's what's missing in any organization. I want to leave a lasting impression in anybody's mind so that if they are in a crunch of their life and don't have a job, they just remember my name and reach out to me. It's also important to be grounded and to know where I'm coming from - I'm very grateful for all the people who have trusted me with their careers and their hiring needs.
