Her Interview

Ten minutes with Dr. Celeta

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to faith, purpose, resilience, and mentorship. A third-grade teacher recognized my potential before I could see it in myself, inspiring me to help others recognize and develop their own strengths. Throughout my career in education, I have learned that meaningful change requires preparation, collaboration, accountability, and a commitment to improving outcomes for children. I believe effective leadership means listening, making difficult decisions, and empowering others to succeed. I have also learned the importance of setting boundaries, prioritizing self-care, and protecting my peace. Ultimately, I define success as the ability to lead with conviction, serve with compassion, make a lasting difference in the lives of others, and remain true to who I was created to be.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of the greatest lessons I have learned is the importance of believing in yourself and recognizing the value of those who believe in you. My third-grade teacher helped me see my potential, inspiring me to encourage others to recognize their own abilities. I have also learned that success does not require compromising your values or changing who you are to fit into every environment. It is important to establish healthy boundaries, have the courage to say no when necessary, and prioritize self-care. I believe we can serve others and lead effectively while protecting our peace, staying true to our convictions, and remaining aligned with our purpose.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering education is to find your fit and stay true to yourself. Do not allow others to define who you should be or pressure you into a path that does not align with your purpose. Just as a size 10 shoe will not fit someone who wears a size 7, not every opportunity or expectation will be right for you. Embrace your individuality, trust your abilities, and remember that failure is never final. Stay focused on your goals, learn from challenges, and never allow anyone to derail your journey or diminish your potential.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in education is ensuring that every child has access to academic support, emotional well-being, and basic resources, especially in underserved communities. However, there are opportunities to strengthen school leadership, build meaningful community partnerships, and address the needs of the whole child through innovative programs, strategic funding, mentorship, and family engagement. I believe that when educators and communities work together to remove barriers and invest in children's overall development, schools can become powerful catalysts for lasting, meaningful change.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are faith, integrity, service, empathy, accountability, and authenticity. These principles guide how I lead, mentor, and serve my community. I believe every child deserves dignity and opportunity, every leader deserves encouragement to grow, and every person should be able to live true to their values. I strive to protect my peace, serve others with intention, and make a positive, lasting difference in every school, community, and life I touch.
