Her Story
About Ellisha
My journey in the medical industry has been amazing - it's been a journey of growth spanning about 11 years, with 5 years specifically in occupational health. I started out in private medical, working on ambulances, taking people to and from the hospital. Then I got with Baltimore City Fire Department, where I learned some on-the-field training, getting my hands dirty, being in a city where I'm from. After that, I switched to Amazon, where I was able to pay for school and stay out of debt, and now I'm continuing my journey by graduating from the University of Maryland. Most of my day is about keeping my building safe, focusing on maintaining OSHA standards, and handling any concerns that may come up from my peers or people underneath me. I take care of health band-aids, sick blood pressures, things like that in my day-to-day. On the other side of things, being a business owner, I continue to manage my business, promoting and doing media, and also my e-book that's out now called 'The First Aid Emergency Guide.' My business started in 2022 when I became an instructor, and I saw that the community needed to learn more about health, but it needed to come from somebody who knew how hard it was to get that information. So my business is not just about providing first aid and CPR classes, it's about providing community health to people in Baltimore City. I'm selling my e-book for $2 so it can be easily accessible to anybody in the community, and hopefully that will allow them to have some foot traffic to my website where they can book a class and sign up for first aid and CPR.

Definitely, God. There's nothing else. I wouldn't be where I am today without my relationship and my faith in God.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I would say remain a student. You can learn anything from anybody, and there's always something to continue learning.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say that they should remain true to themselves, because being yourself is gonna be your greatest asset and your diversity.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I would say the biggest challenge is respect. As a Black woman, there are two double negatives against me walking in. So, taking those chips off my back and coming in with a clear mind and a vision helps me stay focused.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
It would definitely have to be honor and integrity in both areas. It means a lot to me to show up for people in my personal life, and it means a lot to me to have integrity in my work.
