True expertise isn't measured by how much you know, but by how well you can help someone else understand; that's the philosophy I bring to every client.

Her Story

About Emily

Emily Clayton is a licensed insurance broker based in St. Petersburg, Florida. She specializes in helping individuals, families, and businesses find health, life, dental, and vision coverage. Emily started in the field in June after spending six years in hospitality, including leadership roles with Chick-fil-A where she handled grand openings around the country. A high school graduate who completed some college coursework, she holds a 2-15 license. Her background in relationship-focused hospitality work shapes her approach to building trust with clients. Emily attributes her success to the support of her parents, particularly her mother, who encouraged high standards and accountability. She maintains a high-achieving mindset through consistent daily habits such as journaling. In her work, she values creating long-lasting relationships and trust, greeting people and checking in on them regularly. Among the biggest challenges she has faced is learning to be comfortable with uncertainty in a commission-based industry, which has taught her discipline, resilience, proper networking, and the importance of consistency.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Emily

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success comes from my mom and parents who have always been supportive of my goals. She helped me set high standards and do everything possible to meet them. I hold myself accountable with a high-achieving mindset and daily habits like journaling to achieve my goals.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice was to just go for it. I'm young with support from family and friends, so it's the best time to make the biggest goal and do everything to achieve it. Being delusional in your goals has really helped me.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't let the fact that insurance and sales is a male-dominated field distract you. Women can be very successful because people naturally trust our voices more on the phone.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is learning to be comfortable with uncertainty in a commission-based industry. You have to create your own momentum, which teaches discipline, resilience, proper networking, and the importance of consistency even when results aren't immediate.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value creating long-lasting relationships and trust with clients, friends, family, and even people on the street. Being kind and building trusting relationships is validating, like greeting people and checking in on them.
