Her Story
About Hallie
Hallie Devlin is an eclectic artist, musician, and creative educator whose life and work are defined by deep feeling, expressive exploration, and a belief that art is as essential as breathing. Based in Richmond, Texas, she sees creativity not as a profession alone but as a calling—one rooted in faith, emotional expression, and a desire to bring light to others. From an early age, she discovered music as her primary language, beginning with the French horn in fourth grade and quickly rising to distinction as a standout soloist, earning recognition from instructors who noted her exceptional talent.
Her musical journey expanded far beyond the classroom, including touring Europe with an orchestra and performing seven concerts across France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Belgium. Over time, she embraced a wide range of creative and caregiving roles that reflect her versatility and compassion. She has worked as a paint bar instructor, preschool performing arts music teacher, gymnastics instructor, therapist for children with autism, and a creative team member at Brookwood Community, where she helped shape programming for adults with special needs. During the COVID period, she composed 19 original songs and rediscovered her voice as a songwriter, later continuing that creative renewal while working at Texas Children's Hospital, where she filled journals with music inspired by moments of reflection and connection.
Today, Hallie continues to explore art, music, and service as interconnected expressions of her faith and purpose. Having recently been baptized, she describes her creative path as increasingly guided by spiritual grounding and a desire to use her gifts in worship and encouragement. She is currently drawn toward faith-based music and collaborative creative work, while continuing to reflect on how even simple acts—like playing calming music in everyday environments—can positively impact others. Across every chapter of her journey, Hallie remains committed to using creativity as a form of healing, connection, and service, trusting that her path will continue to unfold through faith and artistic exploration.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Hallie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute everything to my faith and learning to lean on God rather than striving in my own strength. For so long, I was pushing myself to excel - it's in my blood, with my dad being an NFL coach for 30 years - but I learned that there's an end to our own strength, and we burn out. I hit that wall hard, going through trauma, burnout, and some really dark places. But that's when I started really leaning into faith and asking God, 'What do you want me to do?' instead of trying to figure it all out myself. I've learned that I can be in any position and make a difference - even just sitting at a desk playing calming music and being kind can impact people's lives. When I got laid off from Texas Children's Hospital along with a thousand other people, so many reached out to tell me I'd made a difference, and I was stunned because I thought I was just checking people in. That taught me that it's not about having the perfect career path or the most impressive resume - it's about being present, being authentic, and letting God work through whatever gifts He's given you. My life has been a grand adventure of following where He leads, even when it doesn't make conventional sense, and that's brought me more fulfillment than any amount of striving in my own strength ever could.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Faith is absolutely central to everything I do - it's the foundation that holds my whole life together. I've learned that leaning on God rather than my own strength is what sustains me, especially after going through trauma and burnout. Making a genuine difference in people's lives is incredibly important to me, even in small ways - I've learned that you can brighten someone's day just by playing calming music, being kind, or helping them discover they're more creative than they thought. I also deeply value authenticity and being true to who God created me to be, even when that means my path doesn't look conventional or 'professional' by traditional standards. Connection is huge for me too - whether it's connecting with special needs children, helping people at a paint bar discover their creativity, or now exploring how to glorify God through my gifts and help others do the same. I believe everyone has something beautiful they're meant to bring forth into the world, and I want to be part of helping that happen while staying true to my own calling.
