Her Story
About Jackie
I've been in the coaching industry for about 9 years, though it was definitely serendipity that brought me here. I'm actually a pharmacist by background, but I quickly found out that I didn't really fit the traditional mold of what we usually think of when it comes to pharmacy. Through some mentorship and my own coaching experience as a client, I discovered that my strengths really fit best in helping other people be successful. Little did I know that was actually a career. In my traditional role as a pharmacist, I worked in physician offices and met with patients one-on-one, doing a lot of behavioral change and coaching work there, though I didn't know what it was at the time. I was really helping patients figure out what their goals were, not what our goals were, and how we could help them get there. I realized there's so much overlap between patient care and helping people manage their health conditions over time, along with goals and motivational or behavioral change. It's simply the same, regardless of what the behavior is. For about 7 years, I worked with a contracted coaching company after they hired me as their first coach in addition to the owners, and then I started my own coaching company in 2023. Officially, it's Boyle & Company, but on all the socials, I have Jackie Boyle Coaching as a place people can find me.

Ten minutes with Jackie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I have a quote hanging on my billboard that inspires me every day: 'Don't worry about the level of individual prominence you've achieved, worry about the individuals you've helped become better people. Think about a metric by which your life will be judged, and make a resolution to live every day to that end, and your life will be a success.' For me, it is in the success of the people that I'm able to help that I find my own success. At the end of my life, I hope that I've exhausted all of my gifts and given as much as I could. Throughout my career, my goal is just to give to as many people as possible and help them transform their lives into what they want it to be, and what their definition of success is. I also want to show my children, my two little girls, what's possible and be an example. I want them to grow up thinking and knowing that they can do whatever they want, and that they can have and use their unique gifts to impact the world in the way that they see fit, and they don't have to fit into some sort of box that we really put around ourselves at times.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I received came through my coaching experience, when my coach asked me really, really deep questions about what I wanted in my life, what kind of impact did I hope to leave on the world, how did I want to help others, and in what ways could my strengths really overlap with the ability to be of service to others. I didn't know that there was a name for it, or what it was. It wasn't something we learned about, certainly not in pharmacy school, but I think it is a more non-traditional path overall. Until being exposed to the coaching experience myself, and then starting as a coach with a contracted company, I realized, oh my goodness, like, this is what I've been waiting for. But I didn't have the words to use, I didn't have the awareness. A lot of things came out of that experience, for sure.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think the world is your oyster. If this is a thing that you know your strengths could be beneficial for, and you have a unique way and a unique approach of how you want to help people, I think reaching out to folks who have done it before you can be a really helpful place to start. Just getting started, and it is really fun to be your own boss and use your creativity and your gifts to be able to give back to others. The world of small businesses is exciting, and I was just reading the other day that women are owning more small businesses than ever before. I think it's a nice time to think about that idea and know that there are a bunch of women who are waiting to help you and support you along the way, and that you're definitely not alone in that. Also, I talk about this with my clients every day: our male counterparts will apply when they have 60% of their qualifications met, and it's just really thinking differently about a lot of things, but also just getting out of our own way.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
We've got a long way to go with women's representation in leadership roles. Thankfully, healthcare does a little bit better across the board because of the distribution of genders in our trajectories, but we still see disparities, especially at the highest levels. So yes, absolutely, is there room for more women at higher levels? Yes, and I think we need organizational change to make those shifts happen.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is first. Acting in my values, living them out, and helping others really uncover theirs is so important to me. Always acting in integrity and honesty is extremely top of the line for me. Alongside that, just transparency. I always warn my clients, I'm very honest, but I really want them to get the most out of the experience, and I'm not going to have them working on things or doing things that don't make sense for them. Compassion is extremely important to me as well. I think that in our world of technology, sometimes that humanistic connection to each other gets overlooked. I think it's so important how we treat each other and how we make other people feel. Within every interaction, I want someone to walk away and feel like I really saw them and I really heard them, and that they were heard, because if not, then I don't feel like I'm having a meaningful impact or a meaningful connection. I prioritize coming from a place of compassion and non-judgment as a primary means of communicating with others.
