Her Story

About Jordyn

I've been in live event production since 2019, and my journey has been truly awesome. I was blessed to be ushered in by mentors who were willing to pour into me and take a chance on me. While I know many people in events and entertainment face a rocky road, I've been fortunate to have opportunities presented to me where I could show what I can do. I work as a project manager handling live event production and community initiatives. My typical day involves doing a lot of outreach, sending emails, writing pre- and post-press releases, reaching out to different PRs, and gathering resources. I'm constantly making sure all the dots are connected, dotting my I's and crossing my T's, so that everything is ready to go when it's time to execute the final event. One of my most notable professional achievements is the Stronger Together community rally that I put together with a close friend who's also a trainer. We brought out almost 100 guests to come together for a workout while also informing them about the importance of voting. We were able to bring out Jamal Bowman, who was the Congressman in New York, and someone running for LA County Sheriff, and we encouraged young adults to be aware of what was going on in the community and got them registered to vote.

Ten minutes with Jordyn

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to Jesus. My faith has been the foundation of everything I've accomplished in my career and personal life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was understanding that the ground is level at the cross. Someone told me to never look at myself as above or below anybody, and to show up authentically as myself, because my superpower is in my natural aura. This encouraged me not to walk into spaces intimidated, but to walk into every room like I belong there, because if I didn't belong there, I would have never got through the door.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be afraid to open your mouth. Don't be afraid to ask for help, and don't be afraid to figure it out as you go. When you're working in this field, there's always audibles, there's always balls that get dropped, there's always people that don't show up, there's always a problem to solve, or a task that needs to be done that may not have originally been yours. You're having to figure it out on the fly, so don't decline opportunities because you're afraid that you may not be able to do it. It's okay to figure it out as you go. That's how you learn.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Some challenges I face are just the access. Sometimes it can get hard to get access to do the things that you need to do. A lot of this industry is who you know, it's based on relationships, and when you're a little bit newer to the game, you can't gain access if you don't have those relationships first, or someone that's connected to the right person that can vouch for you. So sometimes, finding that in can be a challenge, but every challenge is an opportunity for growth and more connection.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity and kindness are most important to me. I believe that we should treat everybody with kindness, and always operate in integrity, because you never know who you're interacting with, you never know how one small act of kindness could be the thing that takes somebody off the ledge. When you operate in integrity, that's when you're able to build trust, and when people trust you, you can accomplish so much more. That's when you can make a hard head soft. That's when you can really make a change, when people trust you. But in order to be trusted, you have to be integral in everything that you do.
