About Jovi
Jovi Stevenson serves as Director of Employee Engagement and Culture at Family Service League, one of Long Island's largest nonprofit human services organizations. In this role, she develops agency-wide strategies to strengthen employee engagement, workplace culture, and leadership development, while creating initiatives such as mentorship programs and employee spotlight campaigns. She began her career in marketing before pivoting to sales and business development, where she designed and delivered customized DEI solutions for employer clients, initially focusing on individuals with disabilities and later expanding to women of all backgrounds and the LGBTQ community. This path led her to her current position after leading similar efforts in banking and smaller nonprofits.
Two years ago, Jovi Stevenson founded Best View Coaching to help women navigate life’s interruptions and transform them into opportunities for greater purpose, visibility, and income. Today, she is expanding this work through keynote speaking, workshops, and organizational partnerships that inspire individuals and teams to move beyond setbacks and lead with confidence.
Stevenson earned her bachelor’s degree from Catholic University of America and her MBA from Adelphi University. She is a Certified Diversity Professional and holds a Certificate of Training for Investigators from the EEOC Institute.
Grounded in authenticity and service, Stevenson credits her parents for instilling the values that continue to guide her leadership. She remains active in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., her local civic organization, and her church.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Jovi
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my parents. My mother taught me that the glass is always half full, that you can conquer anything by facing your fears and putting God first. My father taught me that preparation is the catalyst for success and to always have a plan B. I got the best of both worlds from their different approaches.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to show up and use your voice. Showing up means arriving prepared, staying curious, volunteering for opportunities, and consistently doing what you said you would do. Your voice is needed to inspire others and solve problems. When you combine showing up consistently with the courage to speak up, you become someone others remember, trust, and want on their team.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The advice I would give to young women is to be authentic. People don’t connect with perfection. They connect with humanity. Don’t be afraid to talk about the challenges you’ve overcome, the lessons you’ve learned, or the life interruptions that shaped who you are. Your authenticity is what people remember. Be real. That’s your greatest competitive advantage.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest challenges and opportunities in my field today is that many talented professionals struggle to communicate their value beyond a list of accomplishments.
Too often, people rely on job titles, resumes, or credentials to tell their story. While those things matter, they don’t answer the question every employer, client, or decision-maker is really asking: “Why you?” It's also the biggest opportunity. Your ability to translate your story into value opens doors. When people understand not only what you’ve accomplished, but why it mattered and how it benefited others, you start attracting the right opportunities.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in my work and personal life are dependability and giving more than expected. Being someone people can count on to follow through, keep commitments, and communicate honestly speak volumes. I also believe in giving more than expected. Whether I’m coaching a client, leading a training, supporting a team, or creating content, I want people to walk away feeling they received more value than they anticipated. When others know they can rely on you and consistently experience value beyond what they expected, your reputation begins speaking for itself.
