Her Story

About Julie

I've been in the mortgage industry for 25 years, starting in 2001 when I was placed through a temp agency at a receptionist desk. I quickly discovered I was curious and wanted to learn more, so I moved through processing, junior underwriting, and became a sales assistant, then went into sales in 2005. I wore a lot of different hats in that short order just so I could gain as much knowledge as I could around what I was trying to accomplish. I went into management in 2010, but when my son came along in 2015, I exited management and went back to sales. I'm glad I did because it gave me the opportunity to really dig back into what I was preaching. I got back into management about a year and a half ago, and the company I'm at really provides me with the tools to be able to originate as well as manage. I've opened four locations and I've got great, experienced salespeople that don't really need a whole lot from me other than just organizing us to collaborate, share ideas, share successes, challenges, and learn from one another. My main area of expertise is finding solutions. Having that time as a junior underwriter, I got to really see what's needed in order for someone to be successful with financing. Being able to read guidelines, ask good questions, and put a file together before you submit it to the underwriter is key, and that's what we really strive to do. My responsibilities are to my clients, my partners, and those on my team, and that can be anything from helping to put an event together, to networking, to talking with clients and doing consultations. I love that variety - no single day looks like the next. I get in early and I leave by 4 so that I can be home and make dinner and have that time with my son.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to tenacity, compassion, and keeping relationships throughout my career. My clients are relationships, my referral partners are relationships, and those that I've worked with at other organizations are relationships. Because of all of those, that's truly why I'm here now in this space.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
