Kathy Pease, AICP, is a highly experienced planning consultant based in Granite Bay, California, with over 35 years in city planning and environmental consulting. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is a certified member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). Throughout her career, Kathy has worked with a range of public agencies and private clients, including NASA Ames Research Center, the City of Roseville, and multiple Northern California jurisdictions. She specializes in long-range planning, specific plans, environmental impact reports, and economic development initiatives, combining technical expertise with strategic vision to guide sustainable urban growth.
Kathy began her career with an internship at the City of Pleasanton, which launched her trajectory in municipal planning. She later advanced to associate planner at the City of San Jose and joined NASA Ames Research Center, contributing to the executive team overseeing the transition of Moffett Field from Navy to NASA control. Following a successful period as an environmental consultant preparing complex Environmental Impact Reports for billion-dollar projects in Silicon Valley, Kathy spent 18 years at the City of Roseville, rising to Planning Manager and overseeing long-range planning efforts encompassing thousands of residential units and multiple specific plans. Since 2018, she has served as an independent consultant, supporting Northern California communities on projects such as downtown revitalization, infill development, and large-scale residential planning.

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that it’s possible to have a career you truly love while also creating a schedule that works for you. Finding the balance between professional fulfillment and personal flexibility has been key to my long-term success and satisfaction.

My advice to young women entering this field is to pursue a career you are passionate about and to stay persistent. Keep working hard, continue learning, and trust that dedication and perseverance will allow you to achieve both professional growth and personal fulfillment.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I face is managing the growth of my business while serving an expanding client base. Balancing multiple projects and maintaining high-quality service is demanding, but it also presents an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the communities and clients I serve.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values I hold most important are providing exceptional service to my clients while maintaining a balanced life. I prioritize quality time for my personal life, including daily walks and playtime with my two dogs, which helps me stay grounded and energized to give my best professionally.
