Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kimberly
01What do you attribute your success to?
She attributes her success to her career journey from becoming a cosmetologist to working in event marketing agencies, ultimately co-founding Core Connections with her husband in 2017 after the pandemic provided an opportunity to start their own event production and fulfillment business. The discussion covered Kimberly's professional background, including her 20 years in the events industry and 7 years in her current role, as well as her personal interests in outdoor activities, yoga, and volunteering with her son's soccer team.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received came from watching my mom. As a business owner, she showed me that success is about building something meaningful while creating the flexibility to be present for the people who matter most. Because she controlled her own schedule, she was always there for my school events and milestones, and that inspired me to pursue a career that offers both purpose and balance. Her example taught me that with hard work, determination, and the courage to lead, it's possible to build a successful career without sacrificing what matters most.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You can have a successful career as a business owner and have a healthy and happy marriage and be a mom as well and design your own schedule
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Being a business owner and always networking and seeking new clients
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me are community, family, and finding joy in the work I do every day. I love being able to serve the community where I live while building meaningful relationships through my career. At the same time, my greatest joy is being a wife and mother, and I strive to maintain a balance that allows me to be fully present for both my family and my profession.
With more than 20 years in the events industry and the past seven years in my current role, I've learned that genuine connections and a positive attitude make all the difference. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, practicing yoga, and volunteering with my son's soccer team. Those experiences keep me grounded, energized, and remind me that success is measured not only by professional accomplishments, but also by the impact we have on the people and communities around us.
