The Hardest Promise She Ever Kept to Herself
Following through on a commitment that changed her life.

Sometimes protecting your integrity means walking away from a role you love. A title can be replaced, but once compromised, your character is much harder to reclaim just like trust is hard to regain.
I refuse to compromise on my health. Without the strongest mental and physical health, you can't give your very best to your career or family. Take care of yourself first and then give your all to your work.
The hardest promise I ever kept was becoming someone I could trust. Once I learned to trust myself, I stopped waiting for permission to become who I was meant to be.
Learning that there is no such thing as work-life balance was a life-changer for me. Integration is the key, as sometimes work requires extra effort and other times family and personal commitments take over. I schedule "me time" (e.g. working out, manicures, relaxing) just like a meeting. It's on my calendar and is rarely broken.
Staying true to who I am hasn't always been the easiest path, but it's been the only one that ever led anywhere worth going. Every time I chose authenticity over approval, I built a little more trust in my own judgment. That trust is what eventually allowed me to lead my team the same way: openly and honestly, staying grounded in who I am while staying open to where others could take me.
I promised I would never make myself smaller so someone else could feel bigger, and never lead a team where anyone else felt they had to shrink to stay. That promise cost me a job and gave me a company, because once we stop shrinking, we stop needing permission to build something of our own.
The hardest promise I've ever kept was refusing to quit on myself. Every day I choose resilience because my daughter will always be my why, and I want her to see that no matter what life brings, we keep showing up.
I made a commitment to never stop learning, no matter how busy life became. Every certification, challenge, and new experience has opened doors I couldn't have imagined when I first started my career.
I no longer make myself available 24/7 or on days off. It is a boundary I feel is violated when setting the precedent and allowing that access.
I will not stop believing there is still something within them worth saving. If I must love them while they resist me… then I will. If I must love them while they misunderstand me… then I will. If I must love them while they fight against everything I stand for… then I will. Because love that exists only when it is easy… is not love at all. The kind of love that changes the world… is the love that refuses to disappear.
One of the hardest commitments I made for myself was to ensure I completed my Bachelor's degree. I started college right out of high school and completed the first two years and then took a break for several years. I never allowed it to leave the back of my mind during this time. It was important for me to finish because my family had already instilled in me how important it was to have the degree. I did finish and went on to also complete my Master's degree as well. My kids were able to see the moment which was very important to me.
I promised myself I would never let another person break me ever again. It's my life, my power, my healing… I will be vulnerable and no one will ever use that against me again, nor will I ever allow it to throw me off of my life's purpose. Others peoples wounds are their own to deal with, unless they pay me. That's honestly the one I stick to to this day.
I promised myself to lead with the three C's: Curious. Confident. Coachable. Because the curious ask questions, the confident share credit, the strongest leaders stay coachable, and the loudest voice isn't always the wisest.
I made a promise to myself that I would never allow my faith to waver from what God has promised; if He said it, I believe it and confidently walk the path He has set before me. Honoring that commitment has given me the courage to persevere through challenges, trust His timing, and pursue my purpose with unwavering confidence.
