Ten minutes with Laura
01What do you attribute your success to?
With 25 years in corporate comms experience at big name companies, I've seen where teams struggle. I love finding the best solution to reach the people who actually keep the lights on. Employee & internal comms should not be an afterthought. Reaching these teams with intentional messaging will elevate your visibility and improve your bottom line. Your team is your best advocate - make sure they know how much they matter!
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Everything is figure-out-able! Give me a minute (or an hour) and we can find a solution. I'm not saying it'll be easy, but there is always a way!
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You are smarter and more capable that you realize. Nobody knows what they can do until they step into the discomfort and get started. Find a mentor, lean into their advice, and go get what you want in your career.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Money, money, and money. Budgets get cut from internal comms because leaders figure they can wing it. I've been a small and scrappy team - I've been a team of one - you can do a lot with very little money or budget, but when you ignore internal comms there are definitely risks.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Time to stay connected with the people I care about.
Delivering value in every client relationship.
Helping leaders find a better way to deliver messages - even when it's uncomfortable or hard to share.
