Her Story

About Love

I never knew that I was really fashionable or that I could take my style and make it into a brand. People around me would always ask me to pick out their clothes, but it still didn't hit me. Then one day I started making things, and the first pair of shoes I made, I posted it on Instagram and had a sale the same day. That was seven years ago. It's been a rollercoaster, but God has been blowing my mind. I know when I walk into certain rooms, I'm going to light up the room and be the best dressed. It feels good to be seen and recognized. I started out making shoes in Philly, and then it transitioned into outerwear and accessories. I do most of my sales through social media and host pop-up shops. I work with a team of people and host their events, coordinating for small businesses. I'm originally the coordinator for Baltimore, but I've done Philly, Washington D.C., and New York. I honestly feel like now I'm just beginning, like I'm starting over from the beginning after seven years. My brand is really about self-awareness, self-love, and loving being yourself. It's not just about fashion for me. Every time it turns into some type of ministry. I meet so many women and can see what they're going through, and the healing I've received, I'm able to share with them. It gets really heavy sometimes, and I just want it to be about fashion, but it always turns into something deeper.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Love

01What do you attribute your success to?

What makes me really continue to just keep moving forward is just becoming the best version of myself. I really love the woman that I'm becoming, and I feel like if I would have had a job, I probably wouldn't be where I am. I saw a meme on Instagram that said, if you want to know who God is, become an entrepreneur, and it changed my life. I don't think that I would really have that much of a dependency upon God if I wasn't an entrepreneur, but He's opened my mind and expanded my mind in so many ways. It's just amazing. I tell people to stay down until you can come up. Don't rush your process. It's been seven years, and people looking in from the outside don't know what I'm building behind the scenes. When you're going through stuff and you're not really at a place you want to be, sometimes you can't allow certain people in your energy if they don't know the vision, because they're not on the level that you are mentally. If God gave you something, trust me, He's doing it for a reason. It's not just because He wants to see you blessed, but God uses everything to reveal His power and reveal Himself. We just have to be able to see Him.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The thing that I would tell young women who want to follow in my footsteps is, one, to have fun. Especially younger women, don't take it too serious, because at the end of the day, if you have an interest in something, hopefully that interest will develop, but everybody is not made to be entrepreneurs. Even if you have an interest in something, have fun with it. Don't take it too serious. Don't compare yourself to other people. Figure you out. You can be inspired by other people, but stay in your lane and just embrace everything - the ups, the downs, the flaws. Just learn to embrace it and find more out about yourself. In this world, there are a lot of people who try to be copycats. It's okay to be inspired, but not to verbatim try to be like someone else. Be yourself. My brand is all about love being you, love being yourself. There is a difference between being inspired by someone and being a copycat. I've seen a lot of people who admire my style and are inspired by me, but sometimes they don't give credit when it's due. I've been through a lot of obstacles, and now I'm able to teach young women and help them know these are the things that are going to come. Prepare yourself, brace yourself. I try to find some type of unity, even if it's negativity, and turn it into positive so that people can start to really embrace everything about them. Even if the outside people don't fully agree or understand, it doesn't matter. If you love yourself, then the outside world doesn't have a choice, and if you don't, then move to the left.
