Her Story

About Marian

My career journey has spanned 13 years, with the most significant turning point coming when I joined Visa 3 years ago as an office manager. Before Visa, I worked in management consulting at a global company, and both of these experiences have completely transformed my career. In my current role at Visa, I serve as the central hub for our department, handling everything from internal and external stakeholder communication to arranging all files and documents. I coordinate client travels, both domestic and international, manage all presentations flowing in and out of the department, arrange monthly meetings, and report directly to top management while handling all departmental expenses. What I do changes day by day depending on the workload, but my core strengths lie in organization, attention to detail, and communication skills. While I prefer to work independently because I can finish tasks quickly and efficiently, I've learned to embrace teamwork, which I initially found challenging because it requires waiting for others and coordinating across departments to collect information. I'm currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration with the University of Hull in the UK, which demands a lot of my time but represents an important focus for my continued professional development. I'm also a member of the Chartered Management Institution (CMI). Originally from Egypt, I lived my childhood in Dubai before moving to the USA to join my family.

Ten minutes with Marian

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to working as one team with everyone. Even though I mentioned that I prefer to work independently, I've learned that we all need to support each other - I need to support them, and they need to support me. Resilience is also key to my success. I make it a point to be friendly with everyone in the office, which helps create a collaborative environment where we can all thrive together.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You should be patient for what you are doing, and do it by love. I love what I'm doing, and because I love what I'm doing, I can work up to 16, 18 hours per day - I don't mind at all, because I love what I do. So as long as you love what you do, and you are patient with what you do, and you put a goal that you want to reach at the end, that's all that matters.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The situation in Dubai is affecting the economy right now because of what's going on with Iran, and it's causing the economy to go down. However, it's not really affecting Visa that much - maybe it impacts small companies, but for an international company like Visa, I'm not seeing any significant effect. I'm not facing any challenges regarding that situation either.
