What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my faith in God and His guidance in using me as an advocate to help others. Born and raised in Atmore, Alabama, I have a deep love for my hometown and, most importantly, the people in it. From an early age, I knew I wanted to make a difference in the lives of others. While my family, including my husband, chose to serve in the military, I pursued a different path through higher education. Today, I am proud to be the founder of New Mindset Counseling LLC, where I am able to fulfill my calling by supporting and empowering those I serve.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that I have the power to make a difference. This guidance has reminded me that no matter my role or the challenges I face, my actions can positively impact others’ lives and create meaningful change.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to remember that you matter—and so does your mental health. By prioritizing your well-being and leaning on your faith, you have the power to help break the stigma around mental health and raise much-needed awareness in your communities.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges—and opportunities—in my field right now is being available for everyone who needs support. I am committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others, and ensuring I can be there for those who rely on me is both a responsibility and a privilege.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are putting God first and serving the needs of my community. I am fortunate to be well-known and connected throughout my hometown, which allows me to make a meaningful impact. Recently, I launched my app on my website, https://newmindsetllc.com and I am also the proud founder of PRIMA GIRL, a nonprofit dedicated to helping young girls ages 10 to 18 stay motivated & encouraged to reach their full potential throughout their educational and personal journey.
