Her Story
About Meghan
I am a wife, proud hockey mom of 2, with a background in business, finance, project management, marketing, and sales. After working a corporate job for 5 years, I decided to stay home to raise my children. It's the hardest, most rewarding, exhausting job I have ever done and the pay is in dirty laundry and toddler kisses. After romanticizing motherhood as a picture-perfect life, I needed a way to provide extra income for my family. That idea sparked the beginning of multiple entrepreneur endeavors and landed me where I am today as the CEO of Tiny Sparrow Designs and Inspire Coaching.
When I was 17 I started my first business selling kitchen knives to my friends and family. Imagine explaining to someone why you have a bag of knives in the trunk of your car. Over the last 21 years I have been a waitress, a dietary assistant in a nursing home, the Dairy Queen cake creator, a Cosmetologist, a phone banker, an operations officer, a bank teller, a beauty consultant, I made sweet treats and even learned to crochet. With every step I took, I learned a little bit more about myself, I found my worth, my faith, and my insecurities. It prepared me to be the best version of myself every day. I never stop learning, I never stop trying, I never stop creating. I found my purpose listening to someone's ideas and putting it to paper as a design, a business concept, or inspiring them to become exactly who they were created to be.

01What do you attribute your success to?
God gave me wonderful gifts and what a great way to glorify Him by using those talents to bless others. This business allows me ability to create that behind-the-scenes part of something bigger. I've always dreamt of being that small part of something bigger than myself, and I believe that's constantly been in the back of my mind. I've been in the biggest pit of despair, and I have been at the peak of the mountaintop, and I know how to live in between. Because I've failed so many times, I learned to fail forward and try again. I struggle with depression, anxiety, and ADHD every day and I have to adapt instead of making excuses or using it as a crutch to hold me back. I look to the past for the experience, I look to the present for what matters today, I look to the future for the next opportunity.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't wait to be great. You have one short life so live it well and do good.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Never stop being true to yourself. Don't wait to know who you are and why you're here. When you know how you work, what you need, and what you dream about, you'll never have to worry about trying to find where you belong. Don't lose sight of who you are to follow the trend. It is so hard, especially when you're behind the screen and you have technology at your fingertips. We see this version of what people tell us we should look like and act like which diminishes our self-worth which leads to jealousy and comparison. Those negative feelings will steal your joy, your time, and shut your dreams down. When you stop thinking for yourself and you stop being true to who you are, you lose everything. Don't wait to be great and don't quit something just because it got hard, we all do hard things. If you look back you can see how hard it was to finish the term paper, study for the exam while working 2 jobs, even getting out of bed can be hard but you did it and if you can do that, you can do anything because you already have.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
There are so many opportunities and avenues that it can be overwhelming to know what is best for you. The trends are just trends, but staying within your lane and your niche works every time. You can't sell something you wouldn't love and use yourself.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My family is always the most important part of my life which involves my work life. I want to provide a better life for them through my career by teaching them to be kind, be happy, and safe. Working hard is always the answer with a positive attitude believing you are never better than another person or position. You can lead from the bottom with a smile and grateful heart.
