Her Story

About Natalie

I am a rare disease specialist representative at BioCryst, covering 90% of the state of Georgia with a focus on an ultra-rare disease called hereditary angioedema. I've been in this space for a little over a year and a half, and I've been in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 20 years. My husband and I are co-owners of CrossFit DGA, and I am very passionate about helping people live healthier lives, both professionally and personally. I have certain physicians that I call on, and I bring value by way of my conversations with the providers and the nurses about my product. I have to be very fair and balanced about my products, the safety, the efficacy, and so forth. I have to bring value through conversations and create trust and credibility because these physicians and providers are having to make a choice to use a product for ultra-rare disease. I've spent 2 decades in healthcare helping patients and providers navigate complex medical conditions. Along the way, I've learned that success isn't about having a perfect plan, it's about being willing to adapt and learn and keep moving forward. As a female, I've learned that influence isn't about titles, it's about showing up consistently and serving others. Outside of my career, my husband and I built this fitness community through CrossFit DGA, and what started as a gym has become a place where people find confidence and friendship and support.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I've learned that success isn't about having a perfect plan, it's about being willing to adapt and learn and keep moving forward. I also believe strongly in the power of networking. When I was at the University of Alabama working as a student athletic trainer, I gave my resume to the tight ends coach, Dave, and told him if he ever came across anybody in the pharmaceutical world to share it. He was on an airplane and met a guy named Brian, and the rest is history. That's how I got my foot into the pharmaceutical world. I've learned that influence isn't about titles, it's about showing up consistently and serving others, and that's one of the ways I do try to bring value in serving.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I am very passionate about helping people live healthier lives, both professionally and personally. I believe that influence isn't about titles, it's about showing up consistently and serving others. I have to bring value through conversations and create trust and credibility in my work. My husband and I built this fitness community through CrossFit DGA, and what started as a gym has become a place where people find confidence and friendship and support. I'm very involved within our community in general, serving through organizations like the Boys and Girls Club, my kids' school, and church.
