Her Story

About Neda

I am passionate about bridging food science and biotechnology to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for the future of food. My interests center on cellular agriculture, alternative proteins, biomaterials, and emerging food technologies. I believe meaningful innovation happens when scientific discovery moves beyond the laboratory and creates real-world impact. Throughout my journey, curiosity, perseverance, and continuous learning have shaped both my professional growth and the way I approach new challenges.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Neda

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the moments when I chose not to give up, no matter the circumstances. There were times when I fell, but I got back up and continued because I believed in myself. Positive feedback motivated me to move forward, while I learned not to let negative comments define me. Along the way, I also faced discouraging attitudes and difficult experiences, but instead of letting them stop me, they helped me build a stronger character, greater self-confidence, and the determination to continue my journey.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve carried with me comes from a Persian poem. Its message is essentially: take the first step without needing to know exactly how the entire journey will unfold, because the path itself will show you how to continue. That idea has guided me through many important decisions in my career. I’ve also learned that when something seems impossible, self-empowerment and mindfulness can make a real difference. I’ve learned to believe in my own strength, trust my intuition, and have the courage to move forward even when I can’t see the whole path ahead. Sometimes, you discover what you’re capable of only after you take that first step.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don’t be afraid of failure, because failures can become bridges to success. Don’t be satisfied with small steps when you know you’re capable of more; keep learning, challenging yourself, and working toward the highest expression of who you can become. To fully leverage your strengths, you also need to recognize and embrace your weaknesses, because that’s where a lot of growth begins. And one piece of advice that is very important to me personally is to stay physically active. Exercise doesn’t just strengthen your body—it strengthens your mind, builds discipline and resilience, and helps you face challenges with greater confidence.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think one of the biggest opportunities in food science and biotechnology is developing more sustainable and efficient ways to produce nutritious food, particularly through alternative proteins, cellular agriculture, and emerging biotechnologies. These technologies have the potential to address food security while reducing pressure on natural resources. At the same time, major challenges remain, including scalability, production cost, regulatory pathways, and consumer acceptance. I believe the real opportunity is turning these exciting scientific advances into affordable, accessible products that can make a meaningful impact on people’s lives.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are perseverance, humility, self-confidence, independence, and being helpful to others. I believe in staying persistent when things become difficult, while remaining humble and always willing to learn. Self-confidence and independence have helped me make important decisions and build my own path. At the same time, I believe success becomes more meaningful when you can support others, lend a hand, and help them move forward as well.
