Ten minutes with Priyanka
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of resilience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for continuous learning. Throughout my career, I have often stepped into fast-paced and ambiguous environments where processes were still evolving, and I learned how to stay focused, bring structure to complexity, and keep teams aligned toward shared goals.
I also believe a large part of success comes from building strong relationships and leading with empathy. Technical expertise is important, but the ability to collaborate across teams, communicate clearly, and support people through challenges creates long-term impact.
Another key factor has been my willingness to take ownership beyond my defined role. Whether it was building scalable frameworks, improving operational efficiency, mentoring team members, or driving cross-functional initiatives, I have always focused on contributing where the business and the team needed it most.
Most importantly, I never stop learning. The technology landscape evolves constantly, and staying curious, open to feedback, and willing to grow has helped me continue expanding both personally and professionally.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One of the best career advice I’ve ever received was to set the right expectations early and communicate proactively.
That advice completely changed how I approached leadership and collaboration. I learned that many workplace challenges are not caused by lack of effort, but by misaligned expectations, unclear ownership, or assumptions made too early. Being transparent about timelines, risks, dependencies, and bandwidth helps build trust and creates healthier, more effective teams.
I also learned that setting the right expectations applies to yourself as well. Growth takes time, leadership is a continuous learning process, and success is rarely linear. Staying patient, consistent, and adaptable through challenges has been one of the biggest contributors to my professional journey.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the technology and data industry would be to never underestimate the value of your voice, your perspective, and your ability to lead. This industry can move fast and sometimes feel intimidating, especially early in your career, but confidence grows through experience, curiosity, and consistently showing up willing to learn.
Focus on building strong fundamentals, stay adaptable, and do not limit yourself to a single skill set. Technology evolves constantly, and the people who continue learning and embracing change are the ones who create long-term impact.
I would also encourage women to speak up, ask questions, and take ownership of opportunities even before they feel “fully ready.” Some of the biggest growth moments in my career came from stepping outside my comfort zone and navigating ambiguity with resilience.
Equally important, build relationships and support networks. Mentorship, collaboration, and surrounding yourself with people who genuinely want to see you succeed can make an incredible difference throughout your journey.
Lastly, remember that leadership is not about being the loudest person in the room. It is about consistency, accountability, empathy, and the ability to uplift others while delivering results.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in the data and streaming technology industry right now is the lack of a true single source of truth across systems and teams. Organizations today operate across multiple platforms, tools, environments, and data pipelines, and often different teams rely on different datasets, metrics definitions, or reporting logic. This can create inconsistencies, misalignment, and delays in decision-making, especially in fast-paced environments where real-time insights are critical.
As products and ecosystems become more complex, ensuring data accuracy, governance, and consistency across all touchpoints has become both a technical and organizational challenge. It requires strong collaboration between engineering, analytics, product, QA, and business stakeholders, not just better technology.
At the same time, I believe this challenge presents a major opportunity. Companies are increasingly investing in data governance, observability, automation, and scalable validation frameworks to improve trust in their data. Leaders who can bridge technical depth with cross-functional communication and operational strategy are becoming incredibly valuable in this space.
I also see significant opportunity for women in technology as the industry continues evolving. Diverse perspectives, collaborative leadership, and inclusive problem-solving are critical for building scalable and innovative solutions, and I believe more women are stepping into influential technical and leadership roles that will shape the future of the industry.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me, both professionally and personally, are integrity, accountability, empathy, and continuous growth.
Integrity is foundational for me. I believe in being honest, transparent, and doing the right thing even when it is difficult. In the data and technology space especially, trust is critical, and I strongly value accuracy, ownership, and ethical decision-making.
Accountability is another value I hold closely. I believe in taking ownership of outcomes, following through on commitments, and creating environments where people can rely on one another. Strong teams are built on trust, collaboration, and shared responsibility.
Empathy has also shaped the way I lead and interact with others. I believe people perform their best when they feel heard, respected, and supported. Whether at work or in personal life, I try to approach situations with understanding, patience, and kindness while still maintaining high standards and expectations.
Lastly, I deeply value continuous learning and resilience. Growth comes from staying curious, embracing challenges, and being willing to evolve through change. Both my career and personal experiences have taught me that adaptability and perseverance are essential for long-term success and fulfillment.
