01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to continuous on-the-job learning, pursuing advocate certifications, and leading with compassion and empathy. I strive to be dependable and approachable, which helps build trust with the people I serve. Knowing that clients specifically request to work with me is one of the most meaningful indicators that I'm making a positive impact.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One of the most impactful pieces of career advice I received came from an interviewer who encouraged me to stay in this field. They recognized my potential and reminded me that I had the ability to make a meaningful difference, which gave me the confidence to continue pursuing this career.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be authentic and stay true to who you are. Lead with empathy, listen without judgment, and remember that every person you work with deserves compassion and respect. Recognizing our shared humanity helps build trust and allows you to make a genuine difference in the lives of others.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges is the limited availability of local opportunities in domestic violence advocacy within my area. At the same time, there are meaningful opportunities to increase awareness of this work. Recognition and visibility, such as being featured or sharing professional experiences, can help open new doors, expand networks, and create opportunities to continue serving and growing in the field.
