Her Interview
Ten minutes with Sandra
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, perseverance, and the ability to navigate both challenges and opportunities with determination. I have developed the capacity to learn from diverse experiences and draw insights from a broad network of people, transforming that collective knowledge into practical solutions and effective problem-solving strategies.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to always be myself. There is only one me, and embracing my unique strengths, experiences, and perspective allows me to bring authenticity and value to everything I do.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Never look at a challenge as a stop sign. Always pull your team together, and if no team, those you trust. Try to look at all the angles as a group and give everyone who touches the challenge a voice. Then weave it all together to create the magic of meaningful work coming to fruition.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now are driven by the implementation of artificial intelligence and the rapid pace of regulatory changes. Staying current with evolving healthcare regulations and laws requires continuous learning, adaptability, and the ability to leverage new technologies while ensuring confidentiality for the consumer, compliance and maintaining quality standards. Always put those you serve first. The money will follow.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are person-directed care, integrity, and understanding. I believe individuals should have ownership and an active role in guiding their own care, and I am passionate about teaching others to embrace that approach. I value truth and honesty, even when they are difficult, while also recognizing the importance of compromise, empathy, and considering different perspectives to build meaningful solutions. I believe in honesty. It is the foundation of integrity. I also understand to be mindful of my own biases and vision.
