What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to embracing both passion and autonomy throughout my life. After thirty years as a trusted dentist, I decided to trade my drill for a pen, proving that a second act can be the most vibrant chapter of life. While many dentists say they could write a book, I actually did—publishing Smiling on the Inside this year. This debut, which I consider my proudest accomplishment for capturing the unique world of dentistry with warmth and humor, is just the beginning.
I am now channeling the precision and care I honed in dentistry—and in my love of sewing and gardening—into storytelling. A children’s book is slated for 2026, and a novel is on the horizon. What I valued most in my first career was the autonomy it offered. “Be your own boss” was my guiding mantra then, and it remains the advice I give to young women pursuing their dreams today.
Having built my career and creative path from scratch, I have learned firsthand the power of owning your decisions, your work, and ultimately your life. I hope my journey inspires others to embrace their own potential and to create paths that are uniquely their own.
