Her Story
About Shefali
My journey to co-founding Azura Inc. is a blend of heritage, precision, and a relentless drive for creative autonomy. While My cousin carries the 40-year legacy of family’s business, Aurora Gems and Jewels (India & USA), my own path has been uniquely my own. With a Master’s in Finance and a background in the Culinary Arts, I transitioned into the U.S. diamond industry five years ago, mastering the complexities of lab-grown wholesaling and international manufacturing.
Today, I don’t just design jewelry; I architect it. From hand-selecting stones with brides to creating technical CAD designs and managing the casting and setting process myself, I take pride in being a hands-on creator. At Azura, we bridge the gap between a storied Indian heritage and modern American bridal dreams, ensuring every piece is as technically perfect as it is emotionally significant."

Ten minutes with Shefali
01What do you attribute your success to?
My journey from a Master’s in Finance and Culinary Arts in India to co-founding Azura Inc. in the U.S. is a story of hard work, creativity, and the power of mentorship. While I have always been driven by a deep desire to build something on the creative side, I credit my success to the incredible support system behind me—most notably my brother, the owner of Aurora Gems and Jewels.
With his guidance and family’s 40-year heritage as my foundation, I have been able to bridge the gap between a storied past and a modern future. Today, I’ve achieved a personal milestone: mastering the entire jewelry lifecycle. From custom CAD design to coordinating with my network of trusted casters and setters, I personally oversee every detail. I am a firm believer in manifestation and hard work, and I am honored to help brides turn their unique visions into lasting legacies."
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
After five years of building my career in the U.S. jewelry industry—transitioning from diamond wholesaling to co-founding Azura Inc.—people often ask me what the secret to a successful custom design is. They expect me to talk about CAD precision or 40 years of family sourcing in India.
But the best career advice I ever received had nothing to do with gems: Be patient, and always listen.
- Patience with the Process: From my early days in the kitchen to my Master's in Finance, I learned that you cannot rush a masterpiece. In jewelry, patience is what ensures a setting is secure and a design is timeless.
- Listening as a Superpower: Whether I’m volunteering at a school for the blind or sitting with a nervous bride, listening is where the real work happens. You have to hear what isn't being said to truly understand what someone needs.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
"To the young women entering competitive industries: Be immovable in your strength, but relentless in your kindness. The path to success—especially in a specialized field like jewelry—is rarely a straight line. You will encounter those who try to discourage you, but the key is to stay on your toes and remain professionally grounded. My journey from a Master’s in Finance to co-founding Azura Inc. taught me that you don't have to sacrifice your 'nice' to be 'strong.' Let your work ethic and your technical mastery speak for you. When you know your craft from the CAD design to the final setting, no one can take your seat at the table away from you.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
n the jewelry industry, your most precious resource isn't gold or diamonds—it’s your reputation. When I founded Azura Inc., I understood that success in this field is built entirely on credit and references. Because I had spent years building a transparent and reliable track record during my time in diamond wholesaling, I entered this new chapter with a foundation of trust. That 'social credit' allowed me to form vital partnerships with casters, setters, and suppliers who were willing to support my vision. My journey has taught me that while markets have their ups and downs, a solid reputation is the only investment that never loses its value."
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
"I am thrilled to join the Influential Women community! As I reflect on my journey from a Finance and Culinary background in India to co-founding Azura Inc. in the U.S., I wanted to share the 'North Star' that guides my business every day.
People often talk about 'Manifestation,' but I believe manifestation requires a partner: Hard Work. When you do your work with integrity, the Universe has a way of aligning the right people and opportunities for you.
In the jewelry industry—an industry built on trust—Honesty is my most important tool. My goal isn't just to sell a ring; it's to show my clients a clear, ethical path toward their vision. By staying Curious and constantly learning the technical 'how' (from CAD to casting), I can ensure that the final result is as perfect as the promise it represents.
I look forward to connecting with all of you and learning from your unique journeys!"
