Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I would have to say triumphant over the challenges and persevering with resilience to get to where I'm at as a supervisor. When I came out of that dark period, I had gone through a major depression and was down for a year or two. I literally had to learn how to talk all over again. When Halo gave me the opportunity, it wasn't easy, but during the darkest of my time, I didn't have coaching, mentoring, or any of that. I had to understand the battlefield for myself. To see that I've made it this far after everything I've endured in life, this would have to be one of my highlights. What shaped me the most was losing everything and watching everybody walk away. As long as I kept money in my pocket and was going out paying for everybody, I kept a crowd. But the minute I lost everything - my car, everything - everybody scattered. Nobody was around except God who stayed with me. I had no choice but to keep pushing because besides me and God, I was the only people that was counting on me. So I had to go and keep pushing. That collaboration of events is what shaped me and got me to where I am today.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Follow your heart, because you can listen to everybody around you, and they say what's best for them. But deep in your heart if you sit and listen to your inner self, you'll know what you really want to do, and your time won't be wasted.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, transparency, and loyalty are my biggest core values. I'm not going to play with that. I can't expect it from everybody, but I like loyalty and transparency as the biggest things for me. Definitely honesty, which goes along with transparency.
