Her Story

About Tiara

I've been in the healthcare industry for more than 26 years working as a nurse, and I've worked in various roles throughout the years, which I think is my most notable achievement. I'm now transitioning to coaching, and I've been doing that for the past year. My coaching focuses on helping clinicians eliminate overwhelm and prevent burnout, which is something I'm passionate about because at one point I was that clinician that was overwhelmed and burned out. I'm the CEO and founder of my company, and I have a 12-week coaching program where I do weekly group coaching sessions with clinicians enrolled in my program. A lot of my time is really focused on making sure that my coaching business thrives and making sure that I create the right atmosphere and program for people so that they can achieve and accomplish their goals. My own personal history and background inspired me to get into this field. I was overwhelmed in my personal and professional life, and I just felt hopeless, but once I got a system in place, a lot of things in my life changed. I was able to go from supervisor to associate vice president and obtain all of these different degrees and certifications, which are things I've always been passionate about but never could quite do before. Once I was able to achieve those things, I felt great about that, and now I love to share those stories with others.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a couple of things. One, to my children. They make me want to be better, you know, and stronger and do better. But then also, I think it's just my drive and just my personality. I don't give up easy when it's things that I love and that I'm passionate about. I go after them, and I make sure that I accomplish them. I think just having that drive and determination, and then, of course, you know, I have my children that I want to be a great role model to, so that also helps.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I think I received is just to never give up. You know, anything that you can accomplish, you can do it. You know, if you really put your mind to it and make sure that you stay focused, you can actually accomplish it, and I think that's something that I carry, because my philosophy to other people is, you don't have to quit. That you can accomplish the things that you want to accomplish, you just need the right tools and the right resources.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would just tell them to set some goals early on so that they have a clearer focus of where they want to go. I think that helps. I think part of the frustration with a lot of things is that people don't have clear goals in place. They're just kind of trying to figure it out, and I think that's what I did in the beginning. I was just kind of figuring things out. But I think setting clear goals in the very beginning will help you create a clear action plan on how to get to those goals and accomplish them faster without all of the extra things that happen in between when you just try to figure it out on your own. So, set goals early, create an action plan to accomplish the goals, and kind of stay on path, and then everything will be fine.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think it's just making sure I get the message out there, and I can help more people. I think that can be challenging at times, because sometimes people are not really aware of what coaching is really about, so I think that's been a little challenging. Just getting the message out there, and just helping people understand how it can benefit them.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important is operating from a point of integrity. You know, making sure that I do that always, and being, having compassion for others. And you know, just making sure that I can be of service to people. Those are some of the things that I most value.
