Tiera Trent is a dedicated transportation professional and licensed cosmetologist with over a decade of experience in dispatch, human resources, and operational management. Currently serving as a Bus Field Supervisor at MTA Maryland, she oversees daily field operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely service for passengers. Tiera’s leadership emphasizes a facilitative and adaptive style, supporting her team while promoting accountability, operational excellence, and service reliability. Beyond her professional expertise, she enjoys doing hair, cooking, shopping, and spending quality time with her three-year-old son.
Throughout her career, Tiera has held progressive roles in transportation and human resources, including operations management, dispatch supervision, and HR coordination. She has developed extensive experience in fleet coordination, scheduling, compliance, payroll management, and staff development. Her approach combines a strong operational understanding with people-centered leadership, ensuring both efficiency and team engagement. Tiera is known for her ability to optimize processes, elevate performance, and foster a positive and innovative workplace culture.
Tiera holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Acquisition and Contract Management at the University of Maryland Global Campus. She aspires to transition into management roles that shape scalable and forward-thinking transportation systems. Outside of work, she enjoys her passions for cosmetology, cars, and spending meaningful time with her son, continually striving for personal growth while leading with integrity, resilience, and purpose.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to consistently showing up, maintaining discipline, and putting in the hard work required to achieve my goals. Equally important is my willingness to learn and adapt, which allows me to grow both personally and professionally while continuously improving my performance.

Don't stop growing.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be confident in your abilities and take up space. Be a continuous learner, ask questions and don't hesitate to pursue leadership positions. Also, make sure you build a good network of allies, mentors and peers.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Managing unexpected traffic issues while staying calm and communicating proactively with my team and the community.
