Victoria Schoone, NBC-HWC, like many others, has overcome her own health setbacks and spiritual endeavors which help her apply her experiences to better serve others in the field of health science. Becoming a mother and finding out she was part Native American have both also helped her consider her connection with nature and humanity and call upon her strength to help guide her in supporting others on their paths to improved wellbeing through standardized health and wellness coaching practices.

Health Coaching with Tori is a privately owned practice founded by Victoria in ‘23 in Rhinelander, WI. Her business goal is to focus on improving client health outcomes and providing support to those on personal health journeys. As a national board certified health and wellness coach, working with clients to help them improve various areas of their lifestyle physically, mentally, and spiritually and helping others take the necessary steps to reach their optimal level of wellness is her passion.

Whether it be support in general health and wellness areas, including nutrition and fitness, habit and behavior change, chronic disease management, setting boundaries in relationships, stress management, parental support, overcoming emotional adversities, financial hardships, elderly patient companionship, or patient support in the medical setting, HCWT looks forward to helping bridge the gap between clients, their health related goals, and ideal lifestyles by providing empathetic support and accurate health information and resources.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

Staying adaptable and humble with an outgoing personality. Keeping a positive outlook and modeling the hard work ethic passed down to me. Playing sports has also helped me keep energy levels up, and I attribute my experiences while being a part of the LaCrosse Skating Sirens roller derby team as a part of my inspiration and resilience. Also, turning negative energy into personal motivation and leading with love.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Be gritty; Your setbacks will only become part of your story, not the ending. Let your failures inspire you and find a way to keep smiling. Hold onto your values and stand your ground. Learn from everyone around you, especially those with different backgrounds or beliefs and let your work be inspired by the art surrounding you in your daily life. Don't be afraid to try new things, change your perspective, or to make mistakes. Lastly, don’t just face your fears, embrace them.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be unapologetically yourself and go at your own pace. Set boundaries, value your dignity internally, ignore the noise, and lock in. Smash norms and challenge traditional standards. Find internal motivation and release outside expectations. Don’t be afraid to reach out for support or ask questions. Sometimes the most unexpected people are the ones who come through for you in times of need or have helpful information which can elevate you to the next level.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

In my opinion, the biggest challenge is educating people on the value of health coaching since it is a newer way of approaching health care. I believe our biggest opportunities are within combating impersonal healthcare innovations and outdated ways of dealing with health adversities by fostering human connection and staying authentic in today’s world where one’s intellectual property is so easily accessible. Also, walking the talk and leading by example is not always easy. A coach also experiences their own unique transformation, including personal breakthroughs throughout their career growth which require time in itself.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Continuing to surround myself with a positive and supportive network of people who honor my dignity, wellbeing and path through deeply rooted motherhood and entrepreneurship goals is my main priority right now. I also hope to continue to challenge myself and those around me to be their best selves through a balance of empathy and accountability while striving to make a difference. In an ever changing society, it's also important to me to step back and recognize which shifts might add value to my balance of life or which I should consider stepping away from.
