A proud Milwaukee, Wisconsin native of Puerto Rican descent, she began her acting journey at just 11 years old with the support of her family and expanded into modeling by age 14.
During her high school years, she further developed her artistic and media foundation at Milwaukee High School of the Arts, where she studied opera, jazz, performance, and theater, while also training through Strive Media Institute. There, she gained hands-on experience in videography, film production, and storytelling, and became one of four on-air hosts of Gumbo TV, an Emmy-recognized teen television program. This early experience helped shape her confidence, storytelling ability, and on-camera presence, laying the foundation for her long-standing career in entertainment.
Her on-screen work includes appearances in Ride Along 2 alongside Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, as well as a compelling lead portrayal of Jodi Arias in An American Murder Mystery.
Her broader body of work spans a wide range of film, television, and digital productions, with lead and supporting roles across independent films, series, and streaming content, including projects such as The Bridge, Crossover, Chainz 2 Break, Beautifully Insecure, and Lovers Lane, among others. A versatile performer, Yesse’s booking categories include true crime, drama, theater, scripted and non-scripted television, independent film, commercial and brand campaigns, corporate training and educational content, lifestyle hosting, and bilingual media productions. She also brings experience in voiceover work, lending her voice to projects that require clarity, tone, and emotional connection across both commercial and narrative formats, further expanding her range as a storyteller.
Beyond screen work, Yesse has built a strong presence in modeling, working across print, runway, promotional campaigns, and brand ambassadorships, including collaborations with Collective Wear. She has also participated in major fashion events and pageantry, including competing as Miss Research Triangle in the Miss North Carolina USA system, further expanding her presence in the fashion and lifestyle space.

Her Interview
Ten minutes with Yessenia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of purpose, faith, discipline, and the foundation my family instilled in me early on. I truly believe there is a calling placed within me, and having that support at a young age helped me recognize it, nurture it, and stay committed to it over time.
At the same time, I’ve learned that success is not just about achievement, it’s about growth. I’ve had to develop the ability to give myself grace and be gentle with myself instead of overly critical. This journey is not easy, and it’s not meant to be. There will be moments of uncertainty, setbacks, and disappointment, and those moments are part of the process. I’ve also learned the importance of emotional awareness. You are allowed to feel deeply, but it’s about how you process those emotions and how you choose to move forward. There are times when you can want something so badly and it still does not happen, and that does not mean failure. It simply means it is not your time.
Ultimately, my success comes from staying grounded in who I am, trusting the timing of my journey, and continuing to show up with intention. As long as I know I gave my best and remained true to myself, I consider that success.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to not be so hard on myself. In an industry where things don’t always happen on your timeline, it’s easy to become overly critical. Learning to give myself grace and trust God has helped me stay grounded, trust the process, and continue showing up, even when things don’t go as planned.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
First, I would say don’t be hard on yourself. Be gentle with yourself, because this industry can be challenging and, at times, unpredictable. Not every experience will be positive, and that’s okay. You will hear “no,” and it’s important to understand that rejection is not a reflection of your worth or your talent.
It’s also important to be intentional about the opportunities you pursue. Not everything that looks good on the surface is aligned or genuine. Take the time to do your research, trust your instincts, and never feel pressured to say yes to something that doesn’t feel right. Your safety, values, and peace of mind should always come first. At the same time, commit to your craft. Invest in yourself the same way you would in any professional career. Continue training, take acting and modeling classes, build your portfolio, and focus on growing with each experience. Consistency and preparation truly make a difference.
Most importantly, stay grounded in who you are. Believe in your journey, trust the timing, and keep showing up with confidence and purpose.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is balancing multiple roles and opportunities while maintaining focus and well-being. As a multi-hyphenate creative and executive leader, there are often many doors opening at once, and while that is a blessing, it also requires being highly strategic. I’ve learned that I can’t do everything, although I would love to, and it’s important to protect my time, energy, and overall well-being so I can show up fully and deliver at a high level in the spaces that matter most.
Another challenge is scaling a vision while managing limited time and resources. When you’re building across multiple areas, it requires discipline, structure, and the ability to prioritize effectively. I’ve learned to approach this not just creatively, but operationally by treating my work like a business, building systems, and being intentional about where I invest my time. There are moments where you have to push through and make things happen, but also recognize when to pause, reset, and sustain your long-term growth.
At the same time, there are incredible opportunities, especially in today’s evolving media landscape. With the growth of digital platforms, content creation, and independent production, creatives now have more access, ownership, and control than ever before. For me, being a bilingual Latina is not only part of my identity, but also an opportunity to bridge cultures, expand representation, and bring more authentic, diverse stories to the forefront.
Overall, it’s about finding alignment between purpose and execution, staying intentional, building with strategy, and continuing to grow while navigating both the challenges and opportunities within the industry.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I lead with faith, integrity, and purpose in both my work and personal life. Those values ground me and guide the decisions I make, especially in spaces where I have the opportunity to serve, uplift, and empower others.
I also value authenticity and continuous growth. I believe in striving for excellence while remaining kind, humble, and intentional about the impact I make. For me, growth is not just about progress, but about being self-aware enough to recognize how I’m evolving each day and how I can continue to become better.
Respect, honesty, transparency, and accountability are also very important to me, along with maintaining a strong sense of community and service. I believe in showing up for others while also holding myself to a high standard.
Lastly, resilience and discipline play a major role in everything I do. This journey requires consistency, balance, and the ability to keep going, even when things get challenging. Once I’ve identified my purpose, it becomes about staying committed to it, growing through every experience, and continuing to move forward with intention.
