What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my passion for what I do. I never quit and have embraced a wide range of roles, including entry-level positions and occasionally unpaid opportunities, to build experience and establish my reputation. I am committed to delivering the highest quality work within budget and thrive on finding solutions when projects become challenging.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to persist and demonstrate your capabilities through hard work. Early on, focus on proving yourself and gaining experience. Once you’ve established your reputation, be selective about the projects you take on, and don’t chase validation—prioritize delivering results and building a track record of excellence.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field right now include tight shooting schedules, overtime that can strain budgets, on-set safety, legal and permit issues, and the constant need for troubleshooting. At the same time, there are exciting opportunities: independent film offers creative freedom, the chance to tell humane and politically relevant stories, and the ability to build a production company to champion projects I’m passionate about.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are safety, creative integrity, and persistence. I am committed to delivering high-quality work within constraints while also supporting my family and community.
