Leading with Purpose: My Journey in Building Impact and Staying Grounded

Success, to me, has never been about a single moment or milestone—it has been about consistency, hard work, and staying grateful for every opportunity along the way.

I’ve never approached my career expecting anything to be handed to me. Instead, I’ve focused on learning, putting in the effort, and growing through each experience. In media relations and corporate communications, my goal has always been to do work that goes beyond visibility—work that supports the business, strengthens credibility, and helps position the company in a meaningful way.

Staying Grounded in Purpose

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that our work has to connect back to the business.

It’s easy in communications to focus on activity—coverage, campaigns, content—but what truly matters is impact. How does what I’m doing support growth? How does it build trust? How does it move the company forward?

That perspective has shaped how I approach everything I do. It has pushed me to think more strategically, to understand the business more deeply, and to hold myself accountable not just for effort, but for results.

Choosing Growth, Even When It’s Uncomfortable

If there’s one thing I would tell women entering this field, it’s this: step forward, even when you don’t feel completely ready.

Some of the biggest growth moments in my career have come from stretching beyond what felt comfortable—taking on new challenges, trying new things, and trusting that I would figure it out along the way. You’re capable of more than you think, but you have to give yourself the chance to prove it.

I also believe deeply in the importance of relationships. This is a small world, and how you treat people matters. Trust and reputation aren’t built overnight, but they are everything over time.

Adapting in a Changing Industry

Right now, our field is evolving quickly. The media landscape is more competitive and fast-moving than ever, and breaking through requires a thoughtful, strategic approach.

At the same time, I see a real opportunity for communications to play a stronger role in the business. When we are aligned with sales and marketing, we can drive meaningful impact—supporting growth, building credibility, and strengthening long-term trust.

We’re also seeing the rise of AI and data, which is changing how we approach strategy and measurement. I see this as an opportunity to learn, adapt, and continue evolving with the industry.

The Values That Guide Me

At the core of everything I do are a few key values: integrity, humility, gratitude, and a strong work ethic.

I believe in doing what I say I’m going to do, showing up consistently, and taking ownership of my work. I also try to stay humble—there is always more to learn, and no one succeeds on their own.

My faith has also been a steady foundation for me. It has helped keep me grounded in high-pressure moments and reminds me to lead with purpose, integrity, and perspective.

Above all, I try to stay grateful—for how far I’ve come, for the people who have supported me, and for the opportunities I’ve been given.

Living with Intention

Even outside of work, I try to live intentionally. One of my favorite hobbies is thrifting—it’s a small way I express creativity and individuality while being more mindful about how I consume. I appreciate the process as much as the outcome, and it reflects a broader mindset I try to carry into everything I do: be thoughtful, be curious, and don’t just follow trends.

My Message to Influential Women

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that success isn’t about having everything figured out—it’s about continuing to show up, doing the work well, and growing along the way.

Be willing to challenge yourself. Stay curious. Build strong relationships. Lead with integrity. And don’t lose sight of gratitude.

Every step—especially the challenging ones—is preparing you for what’s next.
