He Still Embraces Us: A Lesson from My Son & Our Heavenly Father
A Mother's Love Mirrors God's Grace: Finding Divine Parallels in Parenting's Challenging Moments

The other night, I had a moment — one of those parental moments where the kids are pushing the limits, patience and sanity feel impossible... and you start to feel your temper rise.
My son was acting out. His behavior had reached a level that felt unbearable. They don’t call it the terrible twos for nothin, huh?! It was constant — arguments, running, shouting, tormenting his sister. I had to step away.
I left the room and went upstairs, so that I wouldn’t lose my temper & do and say regrettable, hurtful things. I let dad take over.
I sat in my office, tidying up, staring blankly out the window — feeling sad, overwhelmed, and honestly, angry.
Of course, things escalated. The kids were fighting, and my son ended up getting hurt.
Suddenly, everything shifted. The same boy who had pushed me away, who had wreaked havoc for what felt like hours… was now crying out for me. Through tears and trembling lips, he called for “Mommy.”
He walked toward me — face hanging low, soft with sorrow and pain.
And what did I do?
I lightly smiled.
I opened my arms.
And I embraced him.
Because my love doesn’t disappear when he messes up. In fact, it’s especially strong when he’s hurting. When he needs me. When he returns.
And in that tender, tear-soaked moment — I saw a reflection of something even greater.
This is exactly how Jesus loves us.
We mess up. We lash out. We ignore his words & walk away from Him. We may cause chaos in our lives and in the lives of others. We try to handle things our way, on our own, without Him. And then... we get hurt.
At the end of ourselves… We CAN come running back. We can pray and ask forgiveness so that we instill peace in ourselves & seek love and care from the one we can always count on. He is our Heavenly Father & Teacher.
And what does Jesus do when he hears our prayers?
He doesn't turn away in anger. He doesn't shame us or say, "I told you so."
You may not see it - but He smiles.
He opens His arms & embraces us - showering us with divine, healing love.
Every. Single. Time.
He welcomes us home — with grace, mercy, and love that doesn’t keep score.
This is the heart of the Father. This is the beauty of grace. And as a parent, I’m learning more and more how His love is not based on performance, but on presence. He longs for us to return — not perfectly, just wholeheartedly.
So if you’ve been running, hiding, or feeling too far gone… if life feels heavy.
Know this:
You are never too far from God’s embrace.
Come as you are — with your wounds, your weariness, your regrets. Seek him & you will find him.
He's not waiting to punish you.
He’s waiting to carry you.
Never forget - He is always available to carry you & show you the way.
