Embracing Change: How Pivoting Careers Led Me to Find True Fulfillment
For a long time, I thought I had my life mapped out. I was an athlete my entire life, and I truly believed that was the path I was going to pursue long-term. But as life often does, things changed—and I had to pivot much sooner than expected.
When I entered the workforce, I began my career in healthcare within Human Resources. That experience taught me so much—not only about supporting employees, but also about serving the senior community with compassion and empathy. I’ve always been someone who enjoys helping others, so HR felt like the perfect fit at the time.
As I continued exploring different areas within HR, I grew professionally and personally. I learned valuable skills, built meaningful relationships, and discovered what it really means to support people in the workplace. But along the way, I realized something important: just because you’re good at something doesn’t always mean it fulfills you.
That realization led me to pivot into more of an office support role, and for the first time in a while, I felt aligned again. I recognized that my passion for people never changed—the way I wanted to support them did.
That journey has led me to where I am now. Every opportunity I’ve stepped into has challenged me, pushed me out of my comfort zone, and ultimately helped shape who I am today.
We put so much pressure on ourselves to have everything figured out from the beginning, but the truth is, growth often requires change. You’re allowed to evolve. You’re allowed to discover new passions. And most importantly, you’re allowed to change your mind.
Sometimes the path you didn’t originally plan for ends up becoming the one that fulfills you the most.
