About Alexandria
I have been in the clinical research industry for 5 years, and I've been in my current role as Senior Operations Manager for 3 years. I have a unique background as a Navy veteran - I was a hospital corpsman in the Navy. My organization offered a veteran-to-clinician pipeline, which gave me the opportunity to translate my medical background to a clinical research role as a CRA, a clinical research associate. From there, I was promoted through the rankings of associate manager, manager, to Senior Manager within the last 3 years. In my current role, I am responsible for leading and overseeing the execution of clinical trials within the United States through people and project management. I oversee operations, quality, and compliance across our region for various therapeutic areas such as oncology, vaccines, and GenMed, ensuring that we can deliver positive outcomes to our patients who participate in our clinical trials. Last year, in October 2024, I had the opportunity to participate in the Pharma Times Clinical Researcher of the Year competition and represent my organization and all trial managers within my field. I competed in the Clinical Trial Manager category and won gold, winning the Pharma Times Clinical Trial Manager of the Year award. It was very nerve-wracking, but very humbling to be in a room of very esteemed professionals in our field.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My biggest piece of advice would be to be intentional about growth. Oftentimes, in this space of instant gratification and social media and everything at the touch of the button, sometimes we're waiting for things to come to us. But I think when you are intentional about your growth and you express how ready you are to be a part of bigger opportunities, that's when growth happens before the rest, such as confidence or skill set, catches up. I think that's the biggest thing I would say - be intentional about growth, and then stay authentic. I think in any corporate industry, sometimes there's boxes to fit in, and I think authenticity is so important, as that will also lift and transcend the growth that you experience.
