Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my passion for safety and my commitment to ensuring that everyone goes home in the same condition they arrived at work physically safe and mentally well. My journey in safety began at 17 when I started working for Allied Universal, where I quickly discovered a love for writing and began developing fire & life safety manuals for high rise buildings in downtown Los Angeles. Over the years, I have worked my way up through multiple roles, gaining experience and insight across the field. As the youngest director my company has ever had, and in a predominantly male industry, I have been able to shine and prove my capabilities. Today, I oversee one of the largest construction projects in Idaho, a role that allows me to combine leadership, safety expertise, and a commitment to excellence in every aspect of the job.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is simple but powerful: “You can do it.” Those three words have reminded me to believe in myself, take on challenges with confidence, and push beyond limits—especially in moments when the path ahead seemed daunting. They’ve guided me through a male-dominated field, leadership roles, and complex projects, reinforcing that determination and self-belief are often the keys to success.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is simple: know that anything is possible. Don’t let gender or stereotypes define your limits. Be confident, stay curious, and pursue opportunities boldly. With dedication, hard work, and belief in yourself, you can break barriers, excel in leadership roles, and make a meaningful impact in any field you choose.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The construction industry has the second highest rate of suicides among workers. Occupational Health & Safety is expanding their focus to address these devasting losses. Opening up the conversation surrounding mental health to create a workplace that is not only physically safe but applies techniques to address mental & emotional health is a huge opportunity for the safety field.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, responsibility, and care for others. In my career, this means prioritizing safety, leading by example, and ensuring that everyone goes home safely at the end of the day. At home, I cherish time with my two teenagers, sharing our love for animals, camping, fishing, and the outdoors, while teaching them respect, responsibility, and the importance of pursuing passions with dedication and heart.
