What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute the majority of my success to my academic upbringing and to my parents. My academic upbringing has been very unique in the aspect of being able to be in such creative fields at such a young age, and beginning to foster that passion. It really allowed me to dive into different areas and see what works and what doesn't, versus people who are rather constricted in their earlier years. I was kind of dipping my toes everywhere, and it allowed me to do that process of trying a bunch of things and seeing what fits a lot sooner than everybody else, and really set my sights on what I want for my future and career. My parents have allowed me to build a very strong work ethic. My father was a business owner, and my mother was also a business owner. So as a very young child, I got to see them in leadership roles and what was expected of a boss. I really took that from a young age to see where it can take me. I'm very lucky in that aspect, because whenever I get stuck or confused, I always ask them what their business mindset is on this, and it has been very helpful to have their insight during those times.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I would definitely say some of my strongest-held values are communication and loyalty. Communication is always at the forefront of my mind, especially in creative work. I feel like nothing can ever really be truly brought to fruition unless everybody's on the same page, because creative work is group work. Because of that, it has allowed me to not only better myself, but also help better others in their creative work and skill sets. A lot of times when you're working in a creative field with specific deadlines or restrictions, you still want to branch out, and everybody always has their own ideas. I've always made it a priority to brainstorm those ideas with my team members, peers, and colleagues, and ensure that whatever work we collectively produce is something that everybody is proud of. I would also say adaptability is a very heavy value that I'm supportive of. I think it's extremely important to be able to pivot, turn, and evolve in a way that benefits others, especially when challenges arise. I feel like a lot of challenges or problems can always be quelled with communication and adaption. As far as loyalty, I would say it's about ensuring that everybody's working together and everybody's happy to work together, keeping that nice work environment going, and ensuring that no matter what, there's always the understanding between one another that this is something we collectively want to create and are collectively passionate about.
