April Hamlin
April Hamlin is a dedicated Administrative Assistant at PEOPLES OAKLAND, INC., where she has contributed her organizational and administrative skills for nearly three years. Beyond her professional role, April is a passionate writer and storyteller, having authored two children’s storybooks, five books of poetry, and six eBooks spanning genres from mystery to fantasy. She is actively transforming her short stories into screenplays and television pilots, reflecting her commitment to bringing her creative visions to life.
Currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Playwriting and Screenwriting at Point Park University, April is in her second year of graduate studies, building on her undergraduate foundation from Clarian University. She has also honed her craft through programs like the Gotham Writers Workshop, gaining specialized training in TV writing and fiction. Her creative achievements include co-writing and starring in a Pittsburgh 48-hour film, highlighting her ability to blend literary talent with performance.
Outside of her academic and professional pursuits, April is deeply involved in community work, supporting the non-profit PEOPLES OAKLAND and participating in charity run-walk events like half marathons and 5Ks. She balances her creative, academic, and community-focused endeavors with a commitment to personal growth and storytelling, marking her as an emerging voice in the worlds of literature, screenwriting, and community engagement.

I would advise young women entering my industry to stay positive, get a solid education, build a strong network, and never give up—even when others doubt your potential.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in my work and personal life are maintaining peace of mind and fostering positive relationships, while I also enjoy singing, music, writing, and sightseeing.
